Located in the small town of Lostwithiel, at the head of the estuary of River Fowey, Royal Oak Inn features elegant rooms, a restaurant, free Wi-Fi, free parking, and easy access to the picturesque... The owners and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. A very good location to visit the Eden project, Lost gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock (NT)
Located in Lostwithiel, Rudge Cottage features accommodations with a patio and free WiFi. It is located in a building dating from 19th century, 1.2 mi from Restormel Castle. Have stayed in Loswithiel before but staying in a holiday cottage was new to us. We had a 5 night stay 7 -12 September as we wanted some freedom and flexibility to chill out and relax without having the hassle of going down for breakfast, room clean etc that you get in a B & B or hotel. We were impressed to find that everything you need is in the cottage. We were out all day every day and came back to eat at the Globe Inn in the town nearly every night. Fully fitted kitchen, televisions in lounge and the main bedroom, comfortable bed and a hot powerful shower (or bath if you prefer). Free fast WiFi and loads of CD's DVD's, books and games for the "stay at homes". Parking outside the kitchen window, was no problem for our Peugeot 308. Plenty of free parking in the town centre car park 2 minutes walk away if you needed it. Will definitely be back to Rudge Cottage again next year.
Peregrine hall features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, set in Lostwithiel, 2.2 mi from Restormel Castle. Made to feel very welcome by our hosts. The cream tea upon arrival was a lovely surprise. The room was light and airy with everything with needed for our short visit. The grounds are delightful and the pool was a lovely addition which we made full use of. Great to be able to accommodate my daughter's dog and Lantic Bay was a beautiful dog-friendly beach, thanks to the recommendation of our hosts.
13 Castle Hill in Lostwithiel features accommodations with free WiFi, 1.2 mi from Restormel Castle. Great little cottage perfect for a family with one child to explore Cornwall- Eden project, Padstow, Bodmin Moor.... with great walks near Lostwithiel. Everything in the cottage was well organised- wood for the fireplace, scones for the first breakfast!
Lostwithiel is small but historic. Everything is within easy walking distance. The hotel could have made much more of its dining room but perhaps our perceptions are down to Covid. The food in the hotel was a little unimaginative and there were few if any fresh vegetables. But that's our taste. Looking round at other guests in the dining room some having the fish pie, which was good, returned the salad uneaten. Demoralising for the chef but perhaps that underlines what I perceive as a doctor to underline the poor nutrition in this country
A gorgeous hidden gem of a village, beautiful river running through, there is a train station, shops, lovely pubs and restaurants, everything is there that anyone would want and within a short drive of all local larger towns and small hamlets, simply lovely would recommend that anyone goes
Lostwithiel is a beautiful town with a cosy village feel. Lots of pubs in walking distance, beautiful river walks. We liked The Earl of Chatham pub, friendly staff and locals, Nice food available too.
Lostwithiel is in central Cornwall. It is easy to drive to both north coast and south coast resorts in a reasonable time. The town itself was historically important as a stannary town, once the most important in Cornwal, having royal authority over tin-mining. It is situated at the head of the estuary of the River Fowey with the A390 running through it. There is a railway station, a bus service, a supermarket, doctor's surgery and dental practice and a castle ruin! The local roads are good (some are very narrow) lovely countryside.
The Hotel was well situated in the town. The food at the Earl of Chatham pub was very good. The Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend. There is a nice Indian Restaurant we would have liked to eat in, but they were only doing Takeaways. Lostwiethel is a nice place to work around. The Church was nice, nice scenery. There is a Castle there, but not very accessible if you have mobility issues, quite steep, and you have mind the traffic . There is a slight slope where the Hotel car park is.
Beautiful and peaceful. Beautiful riverside walks and quite a few antique shops too! Friendly local people and dog friendly stays too. Also a good place to stay within easy car journeys to places including Looe, Fowey, Polperro, Charlestown and more.
The owners and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. A very good location to visit the Eden project, Lost gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock (NT)
