Check in was simple, and I appreciated the ability walk around the petting farm while waiting for the room to be ready. The owner was incredibly accommodating, I arrived early and they did what they could to get us in our room early. The bed was supremely comfortable and cozy. The breakfast was phenomenal!!

The proprietors Euan & Emma were excellent company and very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel had an excellent menu with accompanying wines, beers, spirits, if required. The hotel also had an extensive range of locally-produced spirits. The accommodation was excellent and well-equipped. The only down-side was the lack of TV reception - although being without TV was somewhat of a blessing!

We were met with a warm welcome at reception by the owner who also runs the hotel. In a real cliché, they did everything, looked after guests, looked after the bar, ran the kitchen and served breakfast. A real gem of a place. Rooms were very clean, very well decorated and the bathrooms brilliant (no mould in the bath / shower 🤗). We had dinner (perfect) and breakfast (couldn't ask for more) before we set off on our NC500 journey. If we are back in the area we will be back to stay again.

This place is a little gem. If you want a spiritual retreat full of candles and incense in a quiet location, then this is for you. With no Wi-Fi, this is a place to come and escape. And not one touristy picture of a Highland cow to be seen - what a joy! The owner Fred, is a breath of fresh air. Loved the spacious rooms and very comfy king size bed. The property is just across the road from the footpath to Loch Mey with its bird hide. Great for birdwatchers.

A very comfortable and cosy room - loved the twin Highland Coo hot water bottles! The owner, Ewan, was very knowledgeable and took.the time to have a chat after dinner, which was absolutely delicious, and the chap who served us drinks (sorry, didn't ask his name) was also lovely and chatty. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay at The Mey Hotel again.

The bed was very comfy. The location is excellent for Castle O'Mey and Dunnet Head - I would say forget commercial John O'Groats and go to wild and windy Dunnet which is the REAL most northerly point of mainland Britain. At this guest house from your breakfast table you can watch birds having their brekkie right outside your window, a delightful thing.
