The static caravan was just perfect for us..we were 3 friends travelling together..and it was cosy, warm, clean and very comfortable. Featuring free WiFi, Mey Cliff Cottage is located on the beachfront in Scarfskerry. Superb house! The photos do not do it justice. It's very spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Everything has been well thought out. When we arrived, the wind was howling and it was raining (we stayed in October) but the house was still very warm and cosy with zero draughts. We only needed to put the central heating on a couple of times, which is very efficient and soon warmed the place up. Powerful showers too. There is a large main bathroom and an en-suite in the master bedroom. The host and the woman who looks after the house were very polite and pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is stunning. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to go. The house overlooks the sea but you can also see the islands of Hoy and Stroma. The abandoned buildings on Stroma are even visible from the house, which I found fascinating. There are also plenty of lighthouses and ships passing by, so the view is ever changing and very interesting. I've never seen so many rainbows in my life! There are lots of walks in the immediate area, such as up to Castle Mey, Harrow Harbour and Loch Mey with its very own bird hide. Thurso and Wick are in very easy reach in a car. Had a wonderful time. I didn't want to leave!

Castle Mey, The Orkneys and John O Groats can be visited from this location on the North Coast Route 500. The castle is a delight with wonderful informative staff giving you a private glimpse into the Queen Mum's life. The Orkneys is a lovely trip to tag on and easy to get to by Pentland Ferries. But miss John O Groats as it is such a disappointment and actually not the most northern point (Dunnet Head is). We stayed at The Castle Arms, Mey an ideal location with friendly hosts. The menu is very good and excellent quality.
Super, friendly and welcoming little hotel serving high end restaurant quality food. Imaginative dishes, made using mostly local produce, which made it such a special treat to stay there. We stayed 6 nights, so both the breakfast and dinner menus were well tested by us! The bedroom wa clean, comfortable and well equipped, as was the en suite bathroom. Good wifi connection in the lounge and some bedrooms. Comfortable lounge with good selection of drinks. The Castle of Mey is nearby and Dunnet Bay, Dunnet Head and John O'Groats is just a few miles. Plenty of car parking space at the hotel too. Absolute gem of a place!
Our main aim was to visit the Castle of Mey. This was lovely and very scenic setting right next to the sea. Mey is only a few miles along from John O'Groats where you can take a day trip over to the Orkney islands. Well worth a visit.
The Castle of Mey is the main attraction. Makes a great day out. Mey is half way between John O'Groats and Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the UK mainland. Dunnet bay is brilliant for walking. Excellant boat trips from John O'Groats.
Mey is a small village located on NC500 route. Picturesque views across to Orkney and Dunnet Head. Castle and gardens worth seeing. Mainly ate at Castle Arms Hotel. Good selection and they catered for most dietery requirements. easy to walk around .
A beautiful remote area. Lots of totally unspoilt views that take the breath away. Take some warm clothes though as the wind is always blowing. Local people are all very friendly, helpful and hospitable. There are not many good places to eat dinner. We stayed at the Castle Arms Hotel which serves fabulous food. Most other places in the area are only suitable for light snacks.
Good location. Easy access to JOG and Dunnet Head. Walking distance from Castle of Mey. On NC500 route. Comfortable and clean. Good choice of breakfast.
Stunning location, on moorland just outside the village of Mey. Friendly and informative hosts.
