Nassington (Near Oundle)
This traditional countryside pub, inn and restaurant sits beside the River Nene in Nassington, only minutes from highway A1(M) and 15 minutes from Peterborough and Oundle. The rooms are just the right size, and come with everything one needs. The buildings are architecturally lovely, and the owners do a great job maintaining them. The owner is also the chef in the hotel restaurant, and the food is not only delicious but well presented. The staff are genial and always ready to help.
The town is really a school, most of the buildings are school houses etc, really is different. Many visitors may be there to visit family they have there at the school. Its a good place to use as a base for the surrounding area.
Oundle is a rather strange but picturesque place dominated by a public school and its buildings. the hotel exceeded our expectations and was very good value for money though the food needs some attention.
A beautiful and historic town that I will visit again. Difficult and expensive to find taxis, if we’d realised this we wouldn’t have paid to stay away, instead we would have simply driven 30 minutes home. The taxis in Oundle did lessen the enjoyment of our visit.
The local stone and buildings were delightful and, in the main, historic. Oundle itself is a lovely market town accommodating a top school: in some ways a microcosm of the way Oxbridge colleges intermingle with the town environment. The 'natives' were also very friendly, helpful and mines of information!
A lovely, rather quaint town with several quirky shops to look around and lovely architecture to admire. A great place for a peaceful short break or as a base for visiting the area. We stayed at The Talbot Hotel and dined at Dexter's Restaurant in town on our first night, which was very enjoyable. Would recommend both, without hesitation!
The Talbot Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Oundle is a beautiful place full of character and nice quaint shopping, restaurants. Would highly recommend Dexters Restaurant, staff were lovely and food excellent. Also recommend White Vanilla, ladies clothing, really unusual fashion ideas. Fantastic stay, would definitely return.
