Portaferry is a lovely wee town that is starting to regenerate and add new features to infrastructure and facilities. I hope that the growth includes plans to actively promote events such as the one we were there to participate in this week - The Narrows regattas - an annual sailing event that includes all the clubs in and around portaferry and Strangford. We hope that more restaurants might open in portaferry in the future too but there are options to cross over to Strangford to enjoy hospitality options there! Ferry crossings can be limited - especially at weekends - so hopefully local councils will be actively looking at improvements in the ferry timetable. So - we love portaferry and will be back!

Portaferry is a very friendly place with a few bars and a few nice places to eat and an Aquarium Nugents wood for a nice walk and a ferry to take you over to Strangford either as a foot passenger to go for a drink or a meal or in the car to travel about

Attractive scenery, interesting local history, friendly locals, peaceful. The only drawback was a shortage of places to eat out, especially after 7 p.m. I recommend The Bull and Claw pub for good food.
