The beaches were huge, pristine, almost white sand and with great facilities but we particularly loved the amazing Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth house. A few years since we last visited and it has changed.
A few years since we last visited and it has changed. Seems to have lost some of its local charm and large parts of the town are now holiday lets, so I did not see many 'locals'. Plenty of choices for food from bistros to old fashioned pub grub. We ate at the Union pub in Fore Street on 4 nights and had something different each time, Every time it was lovely. It was our first time in St Ives and we really liked the relaxed feel of the town and how pretty it was in its natural seaside setting. There’s a strong creative community and the art galleries and shops are good. There are some classic English seaside town pisspoor eateries, but there are also some real gems that are well worth seeking out, if your budget allows. It's a lovely, quiet town.
It's a lovely, quiet town. There's plenty to see and more than one beach to spend time at. It's a very clean city, which surprised me. I walked around with my wife after 11 p.m. and felt safe, even though I didn't encounter a single police officer. The garden apartment is ideally located between St Ives and Carbis Bay. We walk to and from St Ives but you can take the bus back from St Ives as there is a bus stop near the Cornish Arms, not far from the apartment. There is a parking space which is a bonus in this area. It is very clean and well appointed but homely at the same time. Dog friendly as well.
