The hotel room is clean and comfortable. I really liked the beautiful design of the room and the hall. Special thanks for the late check-out. We had enough time to relax after a walk through the wonderful city and the beautiful embankment. The hotel is conveniently located near historical and geographical landmarks. The Bay Lodge was a wonderful experience on many levels! From the greeting by Clare the uber friendly owner who directed me to my really nice single room with a balcony and answered any and all questions that I had. The balcony was a nice touch even in January where I had a nice view of St. Michael's Mount. Bay lodge is very conveniently located, about a ten minute walk from the train station and town. The breakfast cooked up by Kevin was delicious and very filling. Clare was great to talk to about goings on in Penzance and the surrounding area; she even gave me a "Clare" map with suggestions of places to go. Clare and Kevin could not be more accommodating. I've stayed at a number of B&B's, but I must say The Bay Lodge is now my favorite.

We have only visited Penzance for a day at a time from North...

We have only visited Penzance for a day at a time from North Cornwall in previous visits so found it fun to stay for longer. First of all there is a lot of history in the town, the Penzance town map provides a trail which takes in the major landmarks. Chapel street has some very interesting houses. Look out for the Egyptian House and the Admiral Benbow pub. Penzance has an open air pool, (the Jubilee pool) one section is heated with geothermic heating, the only one in the UK. Penlee House Gallery and Museum has regular exhibitions. It is easy to walk to Newlyn or catch a bus to Mousehole, Lamorna Cove, Lands End or St Ives. Penzance is a brilliant place to eat out with lots of restaurants catering for every taste. Don’t forget St Michael’s Mount or for a modern garden Tremenheere Sculpture Garden is worth a visit. Penzance is also a good base to visit other parts of Cornwall eg Geevor tin mine, St Just, Sennen Cove. There are so many lovely places to visit, just go !

My husbands birthplace and much loved with great memories.

My husbands birthplace and much loved with great memories. Recent regeneration is slowly bringing the centre back to life after a period of decline. Lets hope investment continues with further growth. Much history to be showcased and celebrated alongside maintaining long lived Cornish tradition and new beginings with new generations.

Lovely town with good eateries (can recommend the Longboat Inn) and a lovely harbour. Recommend popping down to Mousehole and back on the no 6 bus for the ride and passing busy fishing port of Newlyn Good transport too from the bus stn and well served by GWR train from London plus Nat Exp and Flixbus coaches!

Penzance is a lovely place to visit, so much to see around...

Penzance is a lovely place to visit, so much to see around the area & the nearby coastal areas. The railway & bus stations are close by for easy transport access. Plenty of shops & places to eat. A day trip to Isles of Scilly by ferry was top of our list. It was flat calm & we saw pods of dolphins as we approached Lands End on our trip back.

Town centre being need of investment.

Town centre being need of investment. No centre parking some outlets on the front were shut at weekends. I think from the 1 st of October is there winter season The harbour was nice and the promenade was very quiet. I don’t know if this place gets busy in the summer. I get the feeling not and with a 5% room tax coming in next year it won’t help places like this at all

I loved Penzance, The Wren and Raven do an amazing mozzarella, tomato and pesto toastie. the Jubilee pool was fun if the geothermal pool is not warm enough you can warm up in the sauna. The staff and people there are friendly and welcoming. I was not out late at all but felt safe as a lone female traveller. Its a very arty and spiritual town. I loved it! I went to the Minack for an evening to see Ben and Tom Water play live. The theatre was well lit for the gig and the moon rose over the stage. It was amazing! We were lucky and had good weather for St Michael's Mount which was beautiful
