This charming 16th century coaching inn with 27 refurbished bedrooms with attached bathroom, a bar and a restaurant is located opposite the Norman Minster and close to the town of Newark. Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting, will definitely come again.
Featuring garden views, Oxton Hill Hideaway shepherds hut in Southwell features adult-only accommodations and a terrace. It was lovely, really beautiful surroundings and the hut was gorgeous. The owners were really lovely and we will definitely be back. So relaxing, so beautiful and the hut was stunning.
Located in Southwell, just a 5-minute walk from Southwell Minster, charming full of character in the heart Southwell provides accommodations with free WiFi. Everything!! Absolutely amazing. Steven and his wife Noelle are just fantastic hosts. We were there for one night and immediately regretted not staying longer. Amazing , would highly recommend
A quirky, friendly vibe. Very interesting to explore-many pubs and a great urban footpath network. Enjoyed the local market and the Minster was brilliant, especially the setting/trees, A good base for The Dukeries,Nottingham and Industrial Archaeology. Is 70 "young"?
We only stayed one night, being in the area for a family gathering, Luckily we’d eaten when we arrived because there was nowhere open for food and for a Saturday night, the area was dead. Sunday morning was the same, only found two places open to eat.
I was only here overnight but it is a beautiful town / village, some very interesting and bespoke shops it seems, very convenient in terms of convenience shops / co-op, and I visited a pub for dinner (my hotel did not serve evening meals) and it was delicious and good value. The Minster looks beautiful too, all in all I'd come back for a weekend for sure.
Southwell is a lovely village. We stayed at The Bramley Apple where evening meal was not available. There was another pub a few doors up where we had our evening meal. They didn't have accomodation and didn't have any real ale available. At the top of the street The Coach House is a lovely, busy and welcoming local CAMRA pub with lots of choice of beers. They don't have a kitchen so can't provide cooked food or accomodation. Bewteen the three pubs we had everything.
Picturesque place. Great walks, beautiful Minster. Nine pubs plus restaurants and fast food. Saracen's Head Hotel beautiful old coaching Inn. Good quality real ale at The Final Whistle (9) and Old Coach House (7) Race Course and Excellent golf club. Highly recommend Southwell
Favourite place was the MInster although unfortunately the famous 'Leaves ' in the Chapter house were not accessible. Major works underway probably for some months yet. Restaurant Pianos has the most amazing view of the Minster from the back and patio of the restaurant. Southwell is easy to get around and has individual shops and restaurants.
The pods are simple but meet the needs of the traveller. Kitchen, bathroom, bed and living room. This is glamping and not about being indoors. I sat outside at the picnic table and worked and ate my meals surrounded by the sound of the countryside. The location is quiet but near enough to Southwell to be near shops and a lot of history after a relatively short walk. Thoroughly recommend this stay if you need something simple near to Southwell and want to enjoy a bit of countryside.
Spacious kitchen area. Bright, high-gabled living area. Very central. Spacious living room. Easy to get to via train and frequent bus from Nottingham. Plenty of information on walks etc. at accommodation. We went to the Workhouse, National Trust property within easy walking distance. Very interesting place. Do take the guided tour if you can at 12.30 each day. Very informative.
Lovely owners who are working hard to get this traditional pub back to its best. Brilliant breakfast and perfectly positioned for visiting Southwell races. Totally enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stop again.
Very convenient location for the purpose of our visit, and lovely to walk through the park into Southwell. The cottage was well furnished and appointed. The shower was great.
