Millgate House Hotel offers modern rooms with attached bathroom with a bar. Newark town center is within walking distance. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, telephones and tea/coffee facilities.

The location was perfect for walking into town and exploring along the river. It’s a really lovely hotel but could do with being updated. The staff are lovely and were more than happy to accommodate our needs. Special shout out goes to the night manager/barman who kept us amused into the wee small hours and served the best gin and tonic!! I’m now hooked on Whitley Neil rhubarb and ginger gin! 👍

A lovely little market town with lots of individual shops in narrow streets and a variety of places to eat. Recommend Gossips Coffee House - delicious food and you can book a table! Parking is easy too and very central. Southwell Minster is a wonderful building with some amazing stonework features. Do book a guided tour. It is free entry to the minster and the Bishops Palace next door. The town workhouse is also well worth a visit.

Southwell is one of the most charming villages I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Stunning natural beauty and original architecture makes this a must-see. The area is steeped in fascinating history both of local and national interest. There is so much to do - history trails, historical monuments including the best preserved workhouse in England. Newark, Nottingham and Sherwood first are all in visiting distance and not to mention picturesque walks and cruises along the River Trent. Don’t overlook this hidden gem 💎

Southwell, has a lot of history that is linked to the Minster. Although Southwell isn't that big, there's shop's & passage ways to explore that lead you around the back of Southwell. A reasonable network of footpaths for local walks, by the river, down to the National Trust property just outside the town & into the countryside its self. It's worth checking the what's on page's, as the Minster does hold events.

Southwell is gorgeous and the cathedral and wider grounds and ruins are stunning. The Minster is an ancient building from 11th century with lots of history, and most people don’t know about it. Lovely small town with a market and coffee shops and deli’s. There are lovely walks locally along the Trent too.

Beautiful place with lots to see and do, including the fabulous Minster and the fascinating workhouse. Decent place to stay is the Saracen's Head with lots of history, dating back to 1100 - Charles 1st stayed there. Great breakfast and fabulous grandfather clocks.

My Husband & I spent the night of our first wedding anniversary at The Saracens Head, Southwell. What a beautiful hotel and David looked after us fantastically and even upgraded us to the Kings Suite. We had the most wonderful stay and we would highly recommend you book that visit...There are not many places I would return as there are so many places to visit however, I can't rate this property and the team highly enough and we will definitely book again to stay.

It was ideally situated close to Southwell Minster and the town. The traffic noise was minimum despite being situated next to a busy roundabout. Janice is a very congenial hostess.
