Featuring garden views, Oxton Hill Hideaway shepherds hut in Southwell features adult-only accommodations and a terrace. Excellent hut. Very well equipped, spotlessly clean. Met by the owner as we pulled up, couldn't have done more for us. The log burner had been lit prior to our arrival making the hut nice and toasty. Has to have been one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on.

We only stayed for one night so difficult to make more comment. The room was large and had all we needed. Beds very comfortable. Bed linen fresh and lightweight. The reception area although small had a good selection of information available. DStaff very pleasant and knowledgeable ining room was bright and comfortable with a comfortable lounge area where we enjoyed a good coffee. Plenty of local eating places and full range of shops in the high street.

The city is full of character and splendid architecture, not least of course, Southwell Minster - a must-visit!! We sampled the Chinese Restaurant which was excellent, our funeral reception was at the Saracen Hotel - again, with very comfortable facilities and obliging staff. Unless disabled , the town/city is compact enough to walk pretty well anywhere. Maybe a bit quiet for some but fine for us!!

Southwell is a lovely village. We stayed at The Bramley Apple where evening meal was not available. There was another pub a few doors up where we had our evening meal. They didn't have accomodation and didn't have any real ale available. At the top of the street The Coach House is a lovely, busy and welcoming local CAMRA pub with lots of choice of beers. They don't have a kitchen so can't provide cooked food or accomodation. Bewteen the three pubs we had everything.

Picturesque place. Great walks, beautiful Minster. Nine pubs plus restaurants and fast food. Saracen's Head Hotel beautiful old coaching Inn. Good quality real ale at The Final Whistle (9) and Old Coach House (7) Race Course and Excellent golf club. Highly recommend Southwell

Favourite place was the MInster although unfortunately the famous 'Leaves ' in the Chapter house were not accessible. Major works underway probably for some months yet. Restaurant Pianos has the most amazing view of the Minster from the back and patio of the restaurant. Southwell is easy to get around and has individual shops and restaurants.

Lots to see and do - in a small east to get a round town. A beautiful Minster. Walking distance from accommodation, good places to eat. Do a bit of research before you go to find out what there is - as it is a very interesting place.

From $121 per nightNoise from traffic. Noise from, possibly a pump, near our room going on and off all night. As we couldn't get back to sleep decided to watch TV but it wasn't working. The fact that the hotel advertised 'lovely cuisine in our restaurant' which happened to be closed so ended up with pizza across the road.

Was disappointed, could not get in until 12 noon, made it a rush to get changed for the Wedding? The cooked breakfast looked lovely, for those that wanted it, but no other option, did not cater for vegetarians?
