Southwell is one of the most charming villages I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Stunning natural beauty and original architecture makes this a must-see. The area is steeped in fascinating history both of local and national interest. There is so much to do - history trails, historical monuments including the best preserved workhouse in England. Newark, Nottingham and Sherwood first are all in visiting distance and not to mention picturesque walks and cruises along the River Trent. Don’t overlook this hidden gem 💎

Southwell, has a lot of history that is linked to the Minster. Although Southwell isn't that big, there's shop's & passage ways to explore that lead you around the back of Southwell. A reasonable network of footpaths for local walks, by the river, down to the National Trust property just outside the town & into the countryside its self. It's worth checking the what's on page's, as the Minster does hold events.

Southwell is gorgeous and the cathedral and wider grounds and ruins are stunning. The Minster is an ancient building from 11th century with lots of history, and most people don’t know about it. Lovely small town with a market and coffee shops and deli’s. There are lovely walks locally along the Trent too.

Beautiful place with lots to see and do, including the fabulous Minster and the fascinating workhouse. Decent place to stay is the Saracen's Head with lots of history, dating back to 1100 - Charles 1st stayed there. Great breakfast and fabulous grandfather clocks.

Architecturally very interesting, well preserved small town with large red brick Georgian "Prebend" houses around Southwell Minster with its spectacular stone and wooden (pew end) carvings. Southwell Workhouse (Nat Trust) within walking distance of town centre and well worth visiting. Note - town has very limited options for eat-in evening dining.

The apartment is absolutely stunning and the terrace is perfect for spending time with friends and family. We only got the weather on the Friday sadly, but even so, there's enough to do in the apartment even when it's raining, and Southwell itself is a lovely little place; so it was nice to head out for a bit on the evening.

Great location right in the centre of Southwell and although no parking on site the public car park is very reasonable and only 1 minute walk away. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Despite Booking.com messing up the booking, the reception staff were excellent in resolving the issue.

Everything. A perfect location set within the rural countryside. The pod was spotlessly clean on arrival, a TV set, extremely comfortable bed, full set utensils, cutlery and crockery were also present. The owner, Lindsay even gave myself and my partner a lift to Southwell Racecourse.

We have a preference for centrally located traditional coaching inns. The Saracen's head is exactly that. The dining area was well spaced and well furnished, and the sitting room generous and elegant. OUr purpose was to visit Southwell MInster and this hotel was perfectly situated.
