I was born 1944 and brought up in Tamworth and moved to Yorkshire in 1977. My reason for my visit was to complete my family ancestry. The castle, the fantastic church and surrounding villages remain almost the same as I remember as from my last visit in 2007. The town was a terrible disappointment and I would not recommend it to my friends
Absolutely love this place. I'm from Kent so live by the seaside. Nice pubs and food places to go eat at. Friendly locals. Become my place to go when I see my partner as in a long distance relationship and tamworth has become our meeting point. Not failed me yet. Have stayed at 2 different hotels the peel Inn and the globe inn. Beautiful place has become like my home from home
Lovely town, still trying to come back from covid in terms of eateries etc but everyone i met was very welcoming. Castle and adjoining park was lovely. Has a leisure hub with ice skating, snowboarding, swimming ten pin bowling and lots of shops. Think you need a car to travel though. There is local buses but didnt look that frequent or go to all the places you would want go
Tamwoth is a lovely place to visit and once I found my way around as a power chair user it was ok. Snowdome was a good good place to visit and people had a lit of fun and exercise. Having footpath around the river was great to go to and take a nice stroll with nature. Lack of dropped curbs and bad matainance of such was a problem . For me the castle posed the biggest disappointment. Needs total re-think if they want disabled people to visit. A must for me from a safety point would be handrails on the very steep ramp entrance.
Plenty to do, Snowdome, Bowling, Cinema, Drayton Manor, Tamworth Castle, with some of the Staffordshire hoard to see. Good shopping places to eat. Twycross Zoo, Bosworth battlefield. Castle grounds and river pretty. Easy reach of the bustling city of Birmingham. Near to the Cathedral city of Lichfield.
A pleasant town that I would like to explore more thoroughly.I was surprised at just how many pubs are scattered around, but nearby Burton was a very important brewing town. I found an extremely good Indian restaurant and enjoyed a nice curry with a refreshing cold beer.I have certainly spent time in less pleasant towns.
The attitude of the staff is extremely patient and helpful. Unfortunately, it did not result into the actual solving of the problems I had. She in the end offered me a plate of free chips and free breakfast, which labeled as 3.75 on their menu. Staffs are great. I do feel sorry for them to deal with these problems. Nevertheless, it is a hotel room that they try to rent out.
I really liked my stay at the castle Hotel... the twin room was big and had everything we needed in the room as well as a spacious bathroom ... the staff where nice and friendly and when we went out our room was cleaned ie new bedding towels and shower jel and new biscuits and teas and coffe where restocked for us in our room ... all in all a lovely stay 10/10
Tamworth
The house is great. Plenty of room to spread out and relax. Great location to pop into Tamworth town centre or visit the Snow dome. The house was clean and tidy and obviously a lot of thought had gone into the renovation. Shower is powerful. Great communication from the owners. We would stay again.

The owner,Dora, was fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help. Unfortunately the main building was being repaired and this caused a huge disruption to the running of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. It’s location is perfect to be able to get into Tamworth by walking.
Understaffed but staff lovely. Location by lake lovely and a short walk into Tamworth. Comfortable room! Room was not as clean as it should be, especially at a time like this!
