Nothing to dislike on short visit...the weather was perfect and lots going on around the castle and grounds/river and church. All very pretty and well kept . The town centre has a good selection of shops and cafes/restaurants/ pubs for all tastes, especially visit award winning TamworthTap for exceptional ale/cider/food choice.
Very pleasantly surprised with the whole town and its facilities/friendliness! Thanks Tamworth!!

We enjoyed the location of the Gungate Hotel and find...
We enjoyed the location of the Gungate Hotel and find Tamworth a very friendly town, the Castle particularly is well worth a visit .Tamworth is only a 20 minute train journey from Birmingham's Bull Ring, so there are plenty of options.

The buses unfortunately are not reliable.
The buses unfortunately are not reliable. Some run only every 2 hours. Ended up getting a taxi. Lot of shops in town closing down. Venture park lots of good shops. Went into smoke n ice food great especially the deserts. Went to Gate Inn. Pleasant people food good.

The Tamworth Tap and Market Tavern (opposite each other) are...
The Tamworth Tap and Market Tavern (opposite each other) are an undoubted highlight. Reasonable football ground/club. Didn't go for any other reason. Lots of history to the place and some lovely buildings. Could even be some other decent pubs?

If you have time, have a walk around the castle grounds.
If you have time, have a walk around the castle grounds. I went for a little wonder and it was stunning. I wish I had more time, but I will make time to visit again.
If your looking for somewhere to stay, I recommend the Tamworth Arms Hotel. Its stunning and the food is amazing.

The hotel was lovely, we stayed in a family room, very spacious and clean. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you.
Food was so tasty.
Drink and food prices were very reasonable.
Good location, with in walking distance to the town centre and the train station. We stayed here to attend birmingham xmas market, which was only a 20min train ride. We would definitely return

Location was in an ideal place, easy walking distance to shops just across the road, 8 minute walk, and your in Tamworth Town centre for shopping and coffee shops and restaurants. cinema and the snowdome a short distance away tamworth castle grounds, 15 minutes by car Drayton theme park resort
