Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. Truly amazing.
Truly amazing. You can feel the weight of the history beneath your feet everywhere you go. The Acropolis is a wonder to behold and there are many other things to see, especially for those with a love of history. The rooftop bars/restaurants near the Acropolis are a must, they offer a great view. You can also relax at the beach and enjoy the calm water. Public transport is cheap and easy to use. There are some downsides as well, many of the non-touristic areas are not well taken care of and some areas might feel a bit sketchy. The city was safe and the people were very friendly. After seeing the history things such as the acropolis, we ended up going to the mall of athens by cab also. There needs to be more dinner shows. Not much to do at night if you do not drink alcohol so we ended up going back to our room. Overall, Athens is an impressive city. We have been to many others all over the world and Athens is in the top 5 due to the overall history, the people, and the safety. Lots of shopping in palaka area especially. The cabs are reasonable and plenty of them to easily get around town. We had a 6:00 am flight so we had need of a 4:00 AM cab and he showed up as expected. Loved Athens.
Loved Athens. Food is amazing and heaps of stuff for the history buffs! Plenty of cafes and restaurants and most of the major sites are within walking distance of each other. Athens was an amazing place to visit and perhaps live one day. Very easy to walk around and always felt safe despite the heavy graffiti in some places. The murals were pleasant to see, really likened up the place mixed with past and present. Restaurants at night come alive with each one playing live music and people dancing in the streets filled blocks with laughter and good energy. The food is amazing no matter which place you go and everyone is very nice and happy to serve with a joyful smile. Prices were very affordable in restaurants and even a bottle of water. Lots of transportation and many tours to help you navigate through in town and around town. Island hopping was very fun too and the crew on boat made you feel special.Guest review byCard
