Atitlan Sunset Lodge Apartments are located on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Santa Cruz La Laguna and boast excellent volcano views. Free Wi-Fi and kayak use are provided at this property. Everything was wonderful, specially the view! The owner and staff are super friendly. All the accomodations were excellent, you had everything you needed in the apartment. We got the chance to use the sauna and then jump right into the lake, it was amazing. Definetly a place to come back!
Located just outside Santa Cruz La Laguna, this hotel offers free Wi-Fi, an outdoor pool, views of Lake Atitlan and the 3 volcanoes beyond. Its Hummingbird spa has a gym and hot tub. The view from the entire property is breathtaking. The property amenities, staff and service outstanding.
Located in Santa Cruz La Laguna, Lake Front Suite features a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. We had a wonderful time staying at this spot. The hosts were helpful, gracious and kind, responsive and available but never intrusive. It was like visiting family or friends. Incredibly beautiful spot.
Ruby Hideaway is set in Santa Cruz La Laguna. This chalet provides free WiFi, a garden, as well as a terrace. Featuring lake and mountain views, this chalet offers 1 bedroom and opens to a balcony. This place is very cozy and located in a jungle-like garden with an awesome view of the lake. The bed is huge and together with the blankets one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever tried! The next Tienda where you can buy beer and snacks, as well as restaurants, are only 10 min walking distance away - and it’s a beautiful walk! The owner Lee is always answering to questions immediately and does literally everything to make your stay even better. Whatever you ask for, you’ll get it! He and his wife also offer some groceries to buy from their home because the little town Santa Cruz is around 30-40 min walk away which is super nice! The internet is amazing! The area is quiet and you will sleep like a baby! For bird fans: there are hummingbirds around the cabin all the time! One cabin has a kitchen, the other doesn’t but there you’ll find a big cooler box and get fresh ice from Lee! Coffee machine and free coffee is available as well! I really loved the stay, highly recommend this place and I’d definitely stay here again!

Santa Cruz is the pueblo way up the mountain. Down by the lake are some hotels, including 'Noah's Arc' where we stayed. The location is spectacular, with views across the lake to the volcanos. There are flowers everywhere. The lake is clear and clean for swimming. This is a perfect place to relax, watch clouds form over the volcanos and just re-tool.
Great people -- I had an awesome time visiting the town a couple different nights while staying down near the docks -- get a tuk-tuk up and walk back down --- no problems at all. Everyone treated me very kindly. I want to return as soon as I have the opportunity. Santa Cruz La Laguna is beautiful, safe, and the people are friendly.
Very small town with virtually nothing going on. It is very steep terrain so use a tuk-tuk to get up into town. Cecap has a great restaurant and gift shop but if you want to eat dinner out you must make a reservation by 3 or 5 PM depending on location ( there were like 3). If you are cooking your own food bring groceries with you from Pana or elsewhere, as the town is a food desert. The locals are about the nicest, warmest people you’d ever hope to meet. This is a wonderful tranquil base to explore all Lake Atitlan has to offer.
Interesting Mayan village high above the lake, friendly inhabitants, lots of healthy and approachable street dogs, and superb massage from Elaine at Elements Spa further west along beach. Difficult walking along beach due to crazy patchwork of concrete walkways, random stairways, ptotufing nails and elevation changes. Decent dinner at Colibi restaurant in Arce de Noe hotel.
Santa Cruz is a small village with excellent views that you need to work to get to (the hike up the hill to the village is steep). The folks that live there will double the price of whatever you buy, so be prepared to bargain. A good place to walk to to support the community (locally made goods and good restaurant with an amazing view) is CECAP (Cafe Sabor).
We took 2 different village tours. They were absolutely terrific filled with culture of the Mayan peoples of the western highlands. We saw first hand weaving, pottery, artistry, how chocolate is made, and numerous churches of Mayan and Catholic mix. We saw rituals also. Dina our guide was so knowledgable and her English superb. We would have prefered staying at least another 2 days one for just resting and another to take another tour with Pedro's tour agency, now called Volcan Tours.
The attentions exceeded our expectations, the place is magical. We will come back definetly
