The view and historical architecture in Cortona are breathtaking. I found staying in this region a really good experience. When you look for things do there are some great experiences offered at the information building in Cortona. Our favourite thing was a cooking class with Chef Francesca at her resturaunt La Casa Di Francesca. Were we prepared traditional Italian meals. And then we were served those meals which were delicious.
Beautiful little walled city that was very close to the property where we stayed, with great shopping, beautiful old buildings, leather goods, food items, restaurants, etc. Bring your walking shoes and stamina, all of the walled cities require lots of steep hikes and cobblestones!
It is just a heaven on Earth - such a unique and authentic place! It is must to visit Cortona even for one night if you are traveling in Tuscany. The city really has something special in it with all that small streets and cozy vibes!
We spent 2 weeks at Casa Ermanna in Cortona as we wanted to relax a bit and enjoy one of Italy's hill towns. The restaurants and bar/cafes were wonderful, the churches are varied and beautiful, people are kind and helpful even though we do not speak Italian and many residents speak little English. There are two incredible museums right there! The town is quaint, steep, picturesque, and an enjoyable place to be. A small bus connects Cortona's piazza to the train station in Camucia at the bottom of the mountain on the hour for about $1.50. We made a trip to Arezzo and a trip to Assisi quite easily.
Cortona is a town out of a postcard for Tuscany. If I had one day in Italy I would spend it here. The town is a Tuscan dream and has everything you could possibly need for a stay great restaurants cafes wine shops grocery stores and sights. We had the perfect locations just of the town square only a few steps to everything we needed. Cortona is so special and more than we could have hoped for.
The view from the room was fabulous. While the room was small having the balcony gave us somewhere else to sit and relax. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal, you have the opportunity to drop off your luggage and still be close to everything.
This hotel/experience could not have been better. The attention to detail was unmatched. Beautiful/large room with spectacular views. It was everything we had hoped for and more. We were able to take advantage of the Michelin star restaurant, the amazing breakfast, the hotel's wine tour and the spa. Everything was literally steps from our room. Was very easy to schedule things in Cortona as the reception would set up transportation and make reservations for us.
Cortona
It was a beautiful location, beautiful, traditional Tuscan buildings, close to Cortona, an easy train ride into Florence from the local train station. The staff were all very sweet and accommodating, and the breakfast every morning was also very good. The only negative for me was the bed was very hard, and the last day was a little warm and I couldn’t get the AC to function, but I probably should have asked for help with it! I’d stay again!
Lovely apartment with all the facilities we needed. We felt like we were staying in a medieval home with all mod cons. It is quiet, comfortable and there is a view down to the valley. The lady who met us and took us into the apartment was very friendly and helpful - she gave us some excellent restaurant tips. We've been to quite a few Italian hill towns now and Cortona is one of the best.
Cortona
Location of this Bed and Breakfast is the very best. Jeroen, the owner of Casa Dreosti was the best of the best. He was extremely helpful in every regard and became a great friend. We actually stayed an extra three days due to airline difficulties where again Jeroen came through for us. Cortona is a wonderful village and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The place is so beautiful and the persons were amazing. They are always helpful and try to give you the best stay. The view of the pool and the location is marvelous and I couldn’t get tired of it. Tuscany is a large region for a couple of days, but if you plan to visit the Val d’Orcia, it’s a very good emplacement.
Great stay in Cortona! Breakfast view was amazing. Front desk service was excellent - super friendly. Big kudos to Franz for the special attention & positive, friendly attitude. Ginseng shower gel in the bathroom was so refreshing & invigorating. Good location to explore nearby towns by car.
Cortona
Stefano & his family were amazingly friendly and the place stunning. Very clean, quite, an amazing pool area and garden and the cities nearby are great. We only stayed for two days - next time we‘ll stay longer :) Perfect for vacation but also nice for a week of home office in Italy!
Have been to cortona many times but didn’t stay in hotel san Michelle We stayed in agritourismo , however the hotel was wonderful and worth a stay beautifully kept old building with spacious, comfortable , light filled room.
