My daughters and I fell in love with Cortona. It is a great town originally built by the Etruscans in 500 BC on a hillside overlooking a beautiful valley. Like any of the old cities on the hilltops of Tuscany there are lots of steep stairs leading you to the narrow streets and between the houses. I loved waking up to the sun rising over the hills and illuminating the valley below. There were lots of quaint shops and restaurants within walking of our apartment.
A charming hilltop town in Tuscany that's small enough to walk it all but big enough to wander the various side streets and appreciate Italian culture away from the crowds. We enjoyed the lovely park and the long step path up to the cathedral above the town.
Cortona is a lovely walled town on a mountain top. It offers many restaurants, bars and some shops. It is a place for families that's quiet during the day and energetic at night. It has several free car parks outside of the city walls. Once you've parked, be prepared to climb the steep streets!
Beautiful walled town with many historical buildings and museums. Many restaurants and fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside. Cortona streets can be steep and it helps if you are fit! but there are some great buildings and a monastery to explore plus a superb Etruscan museum. Nearby is Lake Trasimeno with several islands to visit by ferry, also there are several vineyards a short drive away.
There is so much to see in Cortona without the crowds of Venice and Orvieto. The people were very friendly and helpful. We even met someone who invited us to sit in the shade in front of his B&B and have a glass of water. He also told us about two places to eat, which were both outstanding! We loved hiking up by the Stations of the Cross and then winding our way back through the beautiful homes and gardens to the main part of town. There are definitely enough shops and places to eat, and we were lucky enough to be in Cortona for the Saturday market. We visited some of the churches and museums but did not have time to see it all! This was my third trip to Cortona and I hope I can do it again. It is my favorite place in Europe!
Cortona is such a beautiful place! Totally enchanting and friendly. I loved everything about this place. I can’t wait to visit again. One tip… call a cab ahead of time. Otherwise, and exquisite place.
The hotel suite we upgraded to was beautiful and had a lovely balcony with gorgeous views (and 2 bathrooms). It was so central and had the added benefit of valet parking for an add'l charge of just 20 Euro. The staff were incredible. They were so gracious upon our arrival and also assisted with our luggage. Breakfast was also a pleasure in their breakfast room with table service. Have been to Cortona many times but never stayed here before. Will definitely come back and highly recommend it!
We booked this hotel because we would like to be 1 day in the centre of Cortona. Directly at arrival the people where very friendly and had an hospitality level of the family hotel. More then expected was this hotel a good place to stay. Unfortunately we would extend our stay and we had to find an other accommodation. Also the breakfast which was include more then good with lots of fresh dishes. Staf members all very polite and ready to serve you the best.

Location was ideal, so quiet and near the main town of Cortona. The swimming pool & surrounding gardens were beautiful. Augusto was absolutely brilliant with his recommendations on where to go for absolutely everything, he made the holiday for us. The walks nearby to Cortona are so scenic with stunning views of Tuscany. Eating outside the villa in the evening so enjoyable as the only thing you can hear is the crickets.
Cortona
Great location for exploring Tuscany and Umbria. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Enrico was very helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed some lovely quiet days in our garden enjoying the view. Coffee machine a plus and I should imagine the pool would be great in summer. Cortona a few minutes away by car and supermarket is nearby in Camucia. We caught the train from Camucia to Florence and Rome for day trips.

- The best view you can have in CORTONA - Everething smart : if you arrive with a car ,you should be a good driver , but this depends from the medioeval lay-out of such beautifull city . I am 79 years old , no problem to arrive and to park .... soo don't worry .
