Cortona is a beautiful walled city. There are lots of cultural traditions to see, and enjoy Do some research before you go so that you can witness some of the activities. We saw, quite by chance the finals of the National Crossbow competition complete with a procession through the city of the band flag throwers and Archers all in full medieval dress, it was amazing. Art is featured prominently as in all of Italy. All the old cities are built on hills so there is a fair amount of walking on steep roads, to get the value of your visit.JillSouth Africa - Scored 1010

I ate at La Grotta and Tonnini, both excellent. I love the museums and the lovely long park with a stunning view. One of my favorite hill towns. It is steep in places, but worth the effort. I think Cortona lacks out door eating and calling cafes ....
I think Cortona lacks out door eating and calling cafes ....mind you I did visit in January but other cities have outdoor heaters so that visitors or even locals can enjoy sitting out on clear sunny but cold days. Not much option if any if you are wanting to eat between 3 and 8pm ... but finding most places in Italy in the small historical towns are the same. So make sure you either have a late breakfast or stop in time to get some lunch in! :)))RosannaGibraltar

The host was very friendly and helpful and gave us numerous of tips on places worth visiting in and around Cortona. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable.
