Offering a garden with an outdoor pool, Villa Loggio Winery and Boutique Hotel is 9.3 mi from Cortona. Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout. The staff was wonderful and treated us so well. I ended up having to get surgery during my stay and they made me feel so comfortable and taken care of.
Overlooking the Valdichiana Valley, the Villa Santa Margherita is set in a historic building adjacent to Cortona’s city walls. We thought the location was super because it was on the edge of the town away from the city center and thus the noise! Yet very easy to walk there, even for my 90 year old mother! It's a bit uphill to the town center but then it's all downhill when you're tired and ready to head back. The views from our windows (we had 2 rooms) were spectacular! The rooms were very clean and quite comfortable. Great towels, soft pillows! Angela was delightful and quite helpful, and we enjoyed conversing with her. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices. There's even some self serve machines in an alcove off of the foyer for drinks (soda, water, snacks) and coffee. Parking is secure (gated) and we appreciated that. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Cortona!
Villa Schiatti is located in Castiglion Fiorentino, a 10-minute drive from Cortona. It offers free parking, free WiFi, panoramic views, and rooms and apartments with cable TV and bathroom. Quaintness, pleasant, inviting, cozy, staff was excellent! Alan and the entire staff including Chef Cristiano were very accommodating!
Set within the town walls of medieval Cortona, this impressive 18th-century residence is now a luxury hotel, which offers you spectacular views of the mountains, hills, and nearby Lake Trasimeno. the staff was one of the most professional I have ever met, the place fit the atmosphere , not modern which is the perfect setting or Cortona. The room was big (we upgraded) to a room with a spectacular view. Room was big , clean, comfy, quiet. exceeded expectations. Signed the book where a friend also visited 2015(wich means the staff had to go get the 2015 book) which was nice, My daughter & I also wrote in the new book and the staff were able to see the Diane Lane (under the tuscan sun movie)original signature. Also the 2 homes where the movie under the tuscan sun was filmed were near by and the staff was so helpful providing even written directions. I assume a lot of people go there to visit thee homes. Close to the city center with shops, restaurants, parking and walking distance if you don't have a car. overall was a great experience . The breakfast was amazing, buffett style and many choices (absolutely delicious). They had some after dinner drink available in lobby as well as home made cookies, biscottis, They also gave us free water before leaving hotel for the road.

Hotel was fine after a room change due to lack of heat in first room. Good Breakfast and staff was very cordial. Great location for seeing the quaint little village of Cortona. Easier to drive to than I thought due to hilltop location. Free parking was available as advertised but some walking uphill was necessary but not too bad.
Culture, history, great food, great shopping, exceptionally friendly locals, safe - never had a sense of danger even at night. Visitors should be aware of how steep the streets are. Via Nacionale is basically the only level street in town. We never had a bad restaurant.
Beautiful small town with breathtaking views! Some of the local people are not very welcoming and it was disappointing. Be sure to try the restaurants down small tight streets. They are the best for food and hospitality.
Cortona is a beautiful, relaxing place where you can walk around all day and never get tired of the views. It is also a great location to use as a home base for day trips around Tuscany. Florence is an easy train ride about an hour and a half away (direct trips -no need for transfers). You can also hire locals for private tours. I’ve visited Montepulciano, Piensa, Assisi, and Perugia during the times I stayed in Cortona and all were great.
Love the views and the restaurants! Streets were extremely clean and people were very friendly. A lot of steep street walking, up hill and long. Do not recommend anyone that has trouble with breathing or walking a lot.
Beautiful hill town with lots of amazing history and great music if you watch for upcoming festivals! As with all hill towns in Umbria/Tuscany, Cortona would be somewhat difficult if you are not a good walker or have any physical limitations. The escalators and people movers that take you from the parking lot up into the town are fantastic! Take time to explore and get lost in the small streets and alleys. Wonderful treasures await you!

Would highly recommend Casa Zeni. You will love your stay here, as we did.
