Cortona is just amazing! It's what you can dream of an holiday in Tuscany. moreover is very strategic as it's close to everything: Florence, Siena, Perugia, Arezzo, Val D'orcia. It's just perfect
It is a very beautiful medieval city close at the border of Tuscany and Umbria. It is definitely not an easy walk city as there are not so many flat streets. But it is worth it! From Piazza Garibaldi, you could have a very nice view to Tuscany. You find few parking lots around the city but from there you need to walk few stairs to actually get in to the city. The italian ice cream, of course, is unbeatable. I can also recommend Cortona Bistrot. I think I have eaten there one of the best tiramisu. The city is worth for couple of days' visit but the surroundings are also very nice (e.g. Lake Trasimeno).
The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona. Cortona is very small, I came in once during a three day stay. Considering that it was 50 euro to drive in to town I would have only came back in for another dinner if I was with a group. Be ready to walk uphill! I walked all the way to the top and then made my way down to eat. Sadly I can’t remember the name of the restaurant I went to but it was tiny with a family feel and the food was incredible
Beautiful, romantic, old place! An ideal experience - away from the crowds and chaos of top destinations like Florence, but at the same time providing every element of romantic and beautiful Tuscany and ancient Italy in general!
The view and historical architecture in Cortona are breathtaking. I found staying in this region a really good experience. When you look for things do there are some great experiences offered at the information building in Cortona. Our favourite thing was a cooking class with Chef Francesca at her resturaunt La Casa Di Francesca. Were we prepared traditional Italian meals. And then we were served those meals which were delicious.
Beautiful little walled city that was very close to the property where we stayed, with great shopping, beautiful old buildings, leather goods, food items, restaurants, etc. Bring your walking shoes and stamina, all of the walled cities require lots of steep hikes and cobblestones!
Cortona
It is about 2.5 kilometres away from the Cortona itself, however, extremely close to Camucia train station if you arrive by train. We used to take a bus up to the hill to Cortona and then get back to hotel by foot which was really nice walk during the nights. At our triple room we had a spacious balcony, overlooking the nature of Tuscany - a really nice touch. The room and bathroom - nice and clean. In general, it is twice cheaper than the cheapest hotel in Cortona - if you are not afraid for a walk, it is a really nice deal.
This hotel/experience could not have been better. The attention to detail was unmatched. Beautiful/large room with spectacular views. It was everything we had hoped for and more. We were able to take advantage of the Michelin star restaurant, the amazing breakfast, the hotel's wine tour and the spa. Everything was literally steps from our room. Was very easy to schedule things in Cortona as the reception would set up transportation and make reservations for us.
Beautiful historical building over looking an idyllic country side. The room was spacious and cool. The staff went above and beyond to help us! From offering site seeing recommendations to locating a lost bag and arranging delivery to our next hotel, they were extremely supportive. The pool was a favourite of my daughters and the suntanning was a dream. The breakfast spread was expansive and generous with more than enough options to please everyone.?
We had a lovely stay at Hotel Italia Cortona. The hotel is located right at the centre of Cortona. The host was very friendly and helpful and gave us numerous of tips on places worth visiting in and around Cortona. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast is really nice and the view from the breakfast room is simply stunning. I'll definetly visit again one day.
Lovely apartment with all the facilities we needed. We felt like we were staying in a medieval home with all mod cons. It is quiet, comfortable and there is a view down to the valley. The lady who met us and took us into the apartment was very friendly and helpful - she gave us some excellent restaurant tips. We've been to quite a few Italian hill towns now and Cortona is one of the best.
Cortona
The hosts are very nice and welcoming people. They treat you almost like their personal guest. Location is very quiet, picturesque and convenient in the same time. You could walk 10 minutes to the train station and from there within 1.5 hour or less travel by train to Florence, Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi. Castiglione del Lago is very close, so is the beautiful hill town Cortona.
Really a fabulous hotel with magnificent views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Beautifully appointed room and bathroom. Wonderful buffet breakfast spread. Very good value for money and highly recommended to any visitor to Cortona. The bus stop linking Cortona to the train station is conveniently situated just outside the hotel. What more could one ask for?
I like the location. The villa is near Cortona, easy access to the attractions of southern Tuscany. Close to Castiglion Fiorentino, Arezzo, Montepulciano. In addition, the best road from Montepulciano through Pienza, the direction to Montalcino and to Siena is right next door. I would also advise a visit to the Avignionese vineyard to complete the good experience.
Cortona
Everything! The nice welcoming from the owners, the apartment is beautiful and very comfortable, it practically has all you need to have a nice stay. The owner was super nice and was very helpful guiding me to have a pleasant stay in the amazing beautiful town of Cortona! I really felt at home! I Strongly recommended it!!!
This hotel is top of the pops! Luxury rooms, great breakfast and fantastic personnel who really do their very best for the guests. And special thanks to its manager Raimondo Alba who is always ready to help! We will certainly come back whenever we travel to Tuscany. Thanks once again!
The location of this hotel is unbelievable. From the pool you have the prettiest view on Cortona. You get to stay in a very old house and it is amazing how well things have been preserved. Like you are visiting a movie scene! The staff is also very friendly and helpful.
Cortona
Was more than we hoped for. Great attention to detail. Great service from the owners, Christian and Silvia, who had many helpful hints about Cortona. An incredible location. Extremely clean and would love to stay again.

Jeroen made you feel welcome from the moment we got there till we left. After taking a long flight into Italy, having breakfast in bed made it nicer in not having to rush down to eat. Very clean with a comfortable bed!
Cortona
Cortona is incredible and this property was right in the heart of the old town area. The apartment was large and clean and had a great view from the windows that open up so you can get an indoor/outdoor feel.
Cortona
Rochelle was so welcoming and the breakfast were generous. We had dinner one night and it was the best meal we have had in Italy. Great spot and very quiet.
The location of the house close to Cortona is a very big plus. A good place to explore southern Tuscany and Umbria.
Best location inside Cortona! Enjoyed experiencing living in a medieval building and wish we could stay longer.
