beautiful town with lots to do in and around the area, having transport was a bonus to visit attractions. the town itself had plenty of dining options and nice bars / cafes. The people were very friendly and helpful.
Incredible historical area. So many ancient temples in one place with detailed information posted throughout the site. Take a hat, water bottle, sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes. It is easy to get around though not always on even ground. Easy to park at either entrance, allow at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours. There is also a cafe on site.
Piazza Armerina, the incredible Roman villa and mosaics was a highlight of our 12 days in Sicily. and absolute 'must' but recommend that you see the INCREDIBLE mosaics at opening or near closing time so you are not hemmed in by busloads of people and explanations from Babylon. (I speak many languages, but not all at once!) The town itself was very nice as well. Cute terraces, little park, beautiful historic buildings and little cobblestone streets. Ample (paid, inexpensive) parking everywhere. (Regarding the B&B: the 2nd 'B' is supposed to refer to 'breakfast'. There was absolutely nothing! Many places in Sicily had a Q-code or such so you could go and have breakfast somewhere. A cute idea if you're not one who needs that 1st coup of coffee at rising, but this should be noted in the description prior to payment!)
Apart from the main street with Camurria on it the rest of the town is run down and lots of rubbish in the streets. Most restaurants were closed except on Friday night when most but not all were open.
The best part of PA was staying at B&B L’Angelica. First class chef and host with an eye for looking after his guests. We highly recommend this to anyone seeking great accommodation and absolutely superb cuisine.
We were surprised that the town was very nice, when we just went there to see the Roman villa. The villa is truly fabulous, mustn’t miss and we ate very well too in the town and just before the entrance to the villa at a rustic restaurant
Piazza Armerina
An evening spent in Piazza Armerina was really one of the most beautiful in Sicily! We enjoyed the pleasant town with the host of the accommodation. He has a excellent enoteca (wine shop) on the square next to the apartment, so we spent the evening in his wine shop tasting amazing local wine, olives and olive oil. The host took very good care of us. Despite the fact that we do not know Italian and he does not speak English, we understood each other very well and we had no problem with communication :-) We really recommend this place :-)
Piazza Armerina
This is an exceptional property. The owners and hosts are just wonderful people. Their names are Roberto and Nikki, and they could not have been nicer, nor more accommodating to anything that we would need. Especially ask Roberto to set up a lunch for you in the town. The room was spotlessly clean and just exceptionally comfortable. There is a sitting area outside. Where are you? Have a great view of the city. The breakfast that Nikki and Roberto’s prepared was the best we have had on our trip to Sicily.
Piazza Armerina
Fantastic breakfast. Unbelievable variety of cheese, ham, sausages, bread, selfmade pastries and marmalade. Just the breakfast alone is worth the trip. We had dinner and Ettore is a fantastic chef. Fresh and very delicious food. Selfmade wine and limoncello. Piazza Armerina is a nice Place to visit but actually we came only for this bed and breakfast and it’s been worth 1000% Go there if you visit Sicily. Ines and Ettore mille Grazie per la vostra calorosa ospitalita
Piazza Armerina
This appartment is one of the best value in Sicily. The appartment is large, clean, confortable and stylish (sicilian style). The hosts are very sympathic and helpfull. I stayed there one time with my wife and two daughters and decide to return later because I was back in the area. And one last thing : the view on the old city is exceptionnal!
Piazza Armerina
Peaceful, beautiful, original and utterly perfect Agriturismo, family owned and run with grace and elegance. Food was the finest we ate in Sicily, greenest and coolest place in the hot August month, and most comfortable bed. Little bit of rare genuine Sicilian courtesy and gentleness can be found here. Book it.
Hotel is close to the city center (5 min walk). Hotel has a fantastic view towards the beach. Breakfeast was good. Parking at the hotel is a challange, entrance is quite small and steep. You have to leave the car keys at the reception, they will park your car.
Piazza Armerina
Wonderful family owned B&B with a very, very warm and welcoming hostess. This quiet location offers an oasis of calm after days of sight seeing. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast is homemade, delicious, and plentiful.
It was clean, price was right, good location, parking provided but a bit difficult to get in and out of. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. Hotel was responsive to requests for an adapter and an extra pillow.
