But the owners were extremely understanding and allowed us to bring food into the hotel to eat dinner since everything was closed for dine in. Nice breakfast in the morning. We loved the balcony in our room.

The old part of town near the cathedral where we stayed in Piazza Armerina is in transition. Much of the old heart is abandoned and for sale, and even the churches are empty and have been stripped of all stucco and marble, as part of the one-euro plan to renovate the town. This is an interesting project that has worked for a number of old towns in Italy already and the staff at our hotel is optimistic that it will work for Piazza Armerina. The town certainly has potential.
Nice Greco-Roman era town. An ancient fabulous Roman Villa is not far away. Note: Be very careful traveling into the old city as the roads are very very narrow and hard to navigate out. Do not bring anything but a compact car into the town.
We didn't go to the town itself, but the mosaics at the roman villa are utterly exceptional. There is nothing like them -- they extend over literally dozens of rooms -- in the world. Saved for posterity by being buried for centuries under the dry soil of Sicily.
Surprisingly interesting town for its size. Very tricky geography at first, as it is spread out and highly contoured, but one gets used to it. The historic centre, however, is compact and walkable (and pleasant!). The Villa Romane, 4km away, is a major site; it claims the best Roman mosaics anywhere, and I certainly wouldn't argue. Lots of good eating options.
Villa Romana de Castello mosaics were amazing. There is no bus after September, so we took a taxi in one directionfor 15€ and walked back (1 hour). Villa Romana was very busy, but the town on Piazza is quiet. We enjoyed an exhibition of old books in the Jesuit college, and the rustic museum of Contadin with fascinating explanations by the owner Mario.
Villa Romana del Casale mosaic ruins was fabulous. Otherwise, I would not recommend trying to drive in this hilltop, crowded, confusing and potentially dangerous town. Frustrating, stressful and Google Maps is no help at all. Get out as quickly as you can.
Piazza Armerina
This hotel villa was awesome. The rooms were cozy, very nice eating area with a morning buffet with a protein (eggs) for us Americans. In the evening we had a seems like a 7-course meal. More than we could consume. Communicate well with the staff to make sure you know what you are getting. The staff was very accommodating. This B&B is on a hill with beautiful views over the town. They have a very nice pool and I'm sure it will be packed during the tourist season. We went in May when there are not that many tourists. Parking was easy.
Piazza Armerina
What a great find in Piazza Armerina. An historic barn conversion oozing with character and charm, run by a great host who provided a fantastic breakfast. We definitely should have stayed at least two nights to really be able to see the historic city right on your doorstep. Fantastic location to get you to Villa Romana del Casale early in the morning before the buses arrive (be there at 9am). Location, location, location.
Piazza Armerina
The space was very clean with everything we could have wanted. The view from the room looking out on Piazza Armerina was extraordinary and worth the stay itself! The guesthouse hosts went truly above and beyond in giving us tips for getting around town, what to do, where to eat, and ensuring we had a 10/10 breakfast with local goods. We just loved this place, even if just for one night!

Really nice apartment in the heart of Piazza Armerina. Recently refurbished with all the amenities you need. Very clean, comfortable and perfect for a couple (even too much big!!!!) Special thanks to the Host for all the kindness we received: escorting to the flat, helping with our luggage, fresh fruits and tasting voucher.
Piazza Armerina
We stayed for dinner which was exceptional, the best we have had in Italy. The hosts Enas and Hectore are amazing. Hectare even drove our car to his parking place. Breakfast was over the top with 7 homemade jams, fresh ricotta, and much more. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. I cannot imagine a better place.

Giovanni, the host was super friendly! We had so much fun staying in his B&B and we also visited his Enoteca to taste delicious wine. Giovanni recommended us other places to visit that were totally worth it! We definitively recommend it to anyone staying in Piazza Armerina!

The accomodation is very well equiped, so you can feel like home. Garden and surrounding are amazing. Swimming pool is great. You can feel here like you are staying in 5 star hotel but you are the only one guest. It gives you a great feeling. We enjoyed staying here very much.
It was clean, price was right, good location, parking provided but a bit difficult to get in and out of. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. Hotel was responsive to requests for an adapter and an extra pillow.
