Frankly everything about B&B Damur was excellent. The host, Christian, is warm, friendly, and helpful and full of interesting information and good recommendations. He’s renovated a beautiful old house in a charming blend of traditional and modern. Breakfast is very good (and plentiful!). Housekeeping is spotless. The town of Piazza Armerina is well worth the 3 nights we spent. It is pretty, has good restaurants, and there are several fun day trips within easy striking distance. If you want to get off the beaten track a bit I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful place to stay! Perched on a hill facing the small town of Piazza Armerina, Nicky and Roberto have created a haven of peace. Nicky and Roberto are absolutely wonderful hosts. The whole place is renovated and decorated with great care. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast is served on the small terrace in front of the house, with a nice view on the surroundings. Breakfast itself is a piece of art, you'll eat it with your eyes first. The last part of the road to get there might appear intimidating at first, but firstly you're rewarded with an exceptional stay, and secondly you'll get used to the road. This is obviously the stopping point for the ancient Villa Romana del Casane site (which is superb with its bikini girl figures), but the town itself is wonderful with the spectacular duomo and Trigona museum across from it. It's a great town to wander around. The finest town in the region. Warmer and cosier than Enna.

Christian was an exceptional host.

Christian was an exceptional host. He was just what we needed at that stage of our 10 day trip to the amazing Island of Sicily. This was a change of plans for us and it turned out to be such a beautiful experience. If you are in this area I would go to it.

A visit to the Villa de Romana was excellent.

A visit to the Villa de Romana was excellent. Approx 17kms out of Pizza Armerina. Drive out there or take a tour. Entry fee for us was 17 euros each. We were not part of a tour and did not hire any recorded explanations of what we were looking at. There are signs every describing those things. A decent market with good prices at the entrance near the parking area. Parking is two euros for first hour then one per hour afterwards.

It's an ancient town with several museums.

It's an ancient town with several museums. Most importantly, it's only 10 minutes drive from Villa Romana, where you can see the most important and extensive Roman mosaics in the world. They will take your breath away! Get there early and the coaches won't have arrived. Most important tip - if you come by car - get a SMALL one. The roads are tiny and I don't know how a large car would manage.

I highly recommend visiting Villa Romana del Casale which was remarkable. However Piazza Armerina itself does not cater for visitors well with very few options for evening meals. I stayed in the Centro Storico and it may have been better in the newer part of the town

We had the suite and it was a huge bedroom room with dual aspect long windows, an ante room with small table and sofa and then a roof terrace with table & chairs, 2 Sun loungers and beautiful views. The hotel does a set dinner each evening for Eur32 for 4 courses with local wine. Everyone eats at the same time, separate tables, makes it homely.
