Nice little town, youthful. Lively in the evening. Is not far from Bari airport, you can use also the train. There are many places for eating with good recomandations. People in general goes to the sea in the morning and some until late afternoon. You can visit old town, other beaches near. A beautiful area, lovely setting with the caves and the lovely colour of the water below the cliffs. Boat trips ongoing all day accessing the caves most days. Easily walkable and restaurants not far away. Lots of work going on - possibly reinforcing car park area near the apartment. Lovely roof top restaurant in same street, outdoor trattoria a couple of hundred feet away. Habitat Coffee Shop was a delightful find and not far from the grocery shop. Pretty old town area and access to the newer town - shade and benches were much needed in the heat. Polignano a Mare is a lively little historic town, so quaint and friendly with narrow streets and nice little shops all carved into caves in the old town. The best time to go is when the RedBull Cliff diving competition is on each summer! The atmosphere is electric and the diving is amazing to watch. There isn't a huge amount to do there aside from eating out, pottering around the shops and taking a boat trip to the caves so a few days is plenty but well worth a visit. Welcoming little town with a charming medieval village, bubbly squares and stunning view points from the cliffs to the great blue sea below. Water is clear, you can see fish from outside the water! great temperature for swimming, even in May. Easy to walk around to the historical centre and to the Ermit island, on the paved pathway. Great food, amazing coffee and stunning ice-creams! Plus… it’s the land of Domenico, so it’s impossible not to sing Volare oh oh oh along as you go. Poetry can be found in nearly every little corner on the medieval town… truly relaxing and inspiring place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and got to know the local restauranteurs and the sights If you like scenic views this place is amazing. Interesting place with great 'old town' full of character. Bars, restaurants and cafes were great and very reasonable. The town is accessible by a very good and cheap railway. The central location is fantastic - a few metres from the entrance to the old town - yet surprisingly quiet at night. The room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. We were also blessed with a small balcony. Antonio and Lorenzo are fabulous hosts - Antonio even offered to collect us from the station - nice touch. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The accommodation is a 5 minute walk to the old town and a 2 minute walk to the train station. Nani met us on our arrival and she was so friendly. She gave us a map of the area and marked out all the great local restaurants for us to try which was a lovely touch!
