The room was several rooms with a private onsen which was fabulous with a view of the Tori gate. Our meal was spectacular 12 courses in a private dining room with a view of the garden. The staff was so helpful and gracious ! Just wish we could have stayed longer. Also, great shuttle to and from this lovely inn!!! Highly recommend ! It was a splurge for us but so worth the memories!!

Traditional ryokan with amazing views and super nice staff. Wonderful service! Perfect location - not directly next to the ferry pier, however, the ryokan’s shuttle is super convenient. We rented a bike from the ryokan to go explore early in the morning and it was the best thing we could have done! Highly recommended!!

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.

It was my second trip to Miyajima island.

It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.

    Miyajima is simply magical!

Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!

A nice mix of traditional Japanese attractions and tourist facilities. Lots of deer roaming the streets and approaching tourists for food. The aquarium was interesting, but the fish exhibits seem very confined, particularly the seals and dolphins. Ferry service to and from the mainland is excellent, with services every 10 minutes.

We spent the night to improve our chances of seeing the Torii at high tide. It was a good decision as we loved the hotel. Coming with luggage was not a problem as the hotel sent a shuttle to the ferry to collect them, leaving us free to visit for the day. We loved the deer, we loved the shrine. We saw a procession of chanting monks. We did some shopping. We ate traditional meals at the hotel. This was a highlight of the trip.

Really lovely little guest house in excellent location (near ferry, so we dropped off bags) with traditional Japanese rooms. Slightly more expensive than most hotels we stayed in Japan but reasonable for Miyajima (PS definitely recommend spending a night in Miyajima) and includes a superb Japanese breakfast. Lovely staff/owners. If stay here, recommend dinner at nearby Niwa Cafe Miyajima.

Excellent hotel, very good quality dinner prepared by Chef Aiko Yamanaka. The staff is super attentive and very friendly. The onsen is great with one outside overlooking the O-Torii. Super recommended, if you plan to visit Miyajima be sure to book at least one night in this Hotel, you will never regret it. My congratulations to all the hotel staff. Wonderful dinner, onsen, breakfast, views from the room. We loved our stay! The shuttle makes it very convenient to get to the hotel, but it's a lovely walk if you would like to walk a little bit. The shuttle also runs at night if you want to take a night walk to see the Miyajima views in the night lights!
