The staff where always smiling, friendly and helpful, checking in and out was very smooth , the guest services were great in helping us book restaurant reservations and figure out the daily activities, as well as the adventure excursions outside the hotel. Liked the open concept of the main building , and the amazing large 4 pools , the large buffet restaurant where you never have to worry about finding a place to sit, with a wide variety of food , and almost everything tasted good. There was always someone around to help, whether it was the waiters in the restaurant or out by the pool . The pools are large and clean , it had more than enough lounge chairs both in and out of the shade that we never had to worry about finding a place to sit even if we got there later in the day. The beach was clean with beautiful palm trees over the chairs. Both where open from 8am until 8pm which is great as most hotels close their pools around 6pm. The room was large and clean, beds were very comfortable, loved having the hot tub in the balcony. There is always some type of live entertainment at night in all the hotels , and as it’s part of a chain of hotels right next to each other within the same compound we were free to walk over or hop on the hotel bus to visit the other hotels , and we where free to use their facilities, and while guests at the other hotels where also allowed into our hotel they had to be 18 and above as we are adults only, so that was great. They had a small mall with both an indoor and outdoor stalls in one of the hotels with all kind of souvenirs and locally made goods, in addition to clothing and mini convenience store , so don’t worry if you forgot to pack something, odds are you’ll find something similar there. We got massages at the spa and the spa rooms where beautifully decorated and the therapists where great.

the grounds are laid out perfectly, the pools are magnificent, the beach was awesome, the food was excellent and the staff was very helpful. the ability to visit other resorts on the campus was a great added touch. We would definitely return to this resort.

The Villa Morena was a wonderful surprise! All the staff and especially Vanessa were amazing! The food was so fresh! Homemade pasta for dinner was really a highlight for me. Make sure if you are interested in street art to go into Akumal and walk around. A couple of good coffee shops there and roasting lunch smelled delicious. Also book a massage that is given right on your private patio!

This hotel is not for families, it was way to much noise all night long drunk people scream in the hallways , our door was nock at 1-3 in the morning woke up our children age 2y, 6y, 8y. The staff were so helpless, unfriendly and rude. Every time we had to eat was so stressful cause the waiters will be so mad and we will ask for things like water they will take for ever to give to us. It was a buffe every time but water wasn’t available or even a spoon. They drop drinks next to ur table they didn’t clean it the whole breakfast we were there, i was so afraid any of us will fall down. Front Thea people never knew the answer. Overall we were so disappointed. It feel like a super cheap hotel, full of a lot of drunk people. I read bad reviews and didn’t payed attention but I wish I did. I’m not happy at all with this hotel experience and I’m not planing to eve go back. The ocean was the only thing was good about our trip.

The beach is public, therefore a bit too many people (especially on weekends). Though not sure if you can find a more private one next to a hotel. Not much for walking as well, only max 2 miles of the beach, after that rocks.

The location of the hotel is exceptional. It is isolated and quiet, with a beautiful path to cross through the jungle with animals to reach the beach, which is splendid. Clear water, palm trees, not too busy... The beach was one of our main criteria and we were not disappointed. The staff was very nice. The food was uneven depending on the dishes/restaurants but we managed to enjoy ourselves by avoiding certain dishes that were not very fresh/too industrial.

great food (buffet) and hotel facilities. beach is clean and beautiful. pool area is great for kids. the hotel barcelo maya palace is one of many hotels on the area. there is so much to do, also sports activities such as mini golf, bowling, tennis, go kart (14 years plus!) only annoying thing: we had to reserve our sun beds at 5.20am (!) to make sure we have a place in the shade for the babies…

The hotel is beautiful, they have nicely decorated garden, restaurant, parking. Every tent has it’s own terrace. Very quiet and lovely. Beds in our Lodge were wide and comfortable. Every room has air conditioning. Breakfast was lovely.
