Room is quiet even if it is very near to road. Had a very comfortable stay. Great plunger coffee with a good selection of tea and coffee sachet. Friendly and helpful host.

Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. Balclutha is hardly a much sought destination but it is in a prime location to base yourself as you visit the Catlins and the ample attractions on its door step. The river in particular is underrated and provides great fishing and kayaking. The town itself sports most of the shops you expect as well as a supermarket and some great eateries. The hi-light of my trip was definitely staying at the historic Fern & Thistle which is just out of town and is definitely the hidden gem of Clutha.Guest review byJohnnyNew Zealand

The view from the private deck looking out over Balclutha was a bonus off street parking made being there easy and convenient.
