Featuring an outdoor pool and free WiFi, Richmond Lodge is a bed & breakfast located in Thames and offers accommodations for those wanting to explore the Coromandel Peninsula. Jen and Cary are so nice people, and they prepared very nice breakfast during our stay which is the best one I ever had in Australia and NewZealand. My son likes them very much and I feel even a bit sad when I am leaving. I hopel to see them again.
Overlooking Thames and featuring beautiful sea views, Grafton Cottage & Chalets offers private chalets. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. This accommodation feels more like staying with a family that has a very big house. We were immediately welcomed so warm it felt like returning to old friends. Amazing room, very clean, home made cookies and they even found a shovel for us so we could dig some holes in the sand on hot water beach. I would always come back here and stay longer. Just wonderful!
Located in Thames in the Waikato region, CoroBase - Breakfast with a View features a balcony and river views. Very nice place, we (a family of five) felt like being at home. Our host, Elena, was very friendly and provided us with great tips and recommendations of places to visit.
Kuranui Cottage is located in Thames and offers a shared lounge, a spa & wellness center and a terrace. Very clean and cozy. Every single part of house has something nice. Well done with the book telling the whole story and all the pictures from the place prior the renovation
Offering free Wi-Fi and free breakfast, the Tudor-style Chartre` Manor is just 5 minutes’ drive from the Thames i-SITE. Guests receive free afternoon tea with home-baked goods upon arrival. The location was amazing, overlooking the city and water from high on a bluff. Our accommodations were very comfortable with a private door and a sitting room for guests in this spacious house. Very friendly dog (Coco) also. Pauline does a fantastic breakfast of either an English cooked one or continental, and also has many good suggestions for the area.

They roll up the sidewalks early in this town. One central street where all the bottle O shops, grocery stores, and restaurants are located. There is a reserve park out the same road you go to the cottages on. There's some great hikes there if it isn't raining. The visitors center is nice too with a lot of information.
Not a lot to Thames, but a good central location for doing things in that area. Coromandel town has more going on, but it's way up the peninsula, so not as good a general base. We don't like to keep moving our place to stay each day, so staying 3-4 days in Thames was fine.
The Coromandel is a favourite and much loved area by both locals and visitors and Thames is a gateway town to the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. Thames is easy to walk around and has several museums and places of interest. There is an electric vehicle charging point in the centre of town by the library and Coromandel in general has a good supply of ev charging points. The information centre is in the middle of the town where the buses stop. We visited for the Steampunk festival and it was very lively and great fun. In the evening we joined other friends for dinner at the Grahamstown Bar which was followed by an excellent band by the name of "Steam Pudding"
Love Thames I used to visit when I was young but have moved to the USA. Always love returning to visit my family that lives here. Love the bakery stores! Small town for walking around and people are friendly.
When we got to the Regional Park we found out that the Pinnacles trail had been disrupted by weather and was closed. The ranger at the headquarters was not very encouraging for local walks. We started walking anyway and met up with a maintenance ranger who was so much more helpful and set us on our way to hike a couple of lookouts. We should have checked the status of the trails before we got there. We probably would have changed our plans.
I liked the town, but probably I would have liked it more , the more I found out. Coffee shops were good, but I think it needs a few good restaurants there. There are a few really good tough hikes in the area. I think there is a bit of history there too.
It is a beautiful location surrounded by trees. A little oasis away from the hustle butt too far. Our room looked onto the pool, very nice. Unfortunately we had only booked one night and could not enjoy the surroundings as much as we would of liked. Our host's were tremendous and by the time we left we felt we had known them for years. If we return to New Zealand we would certainly stay for longer.
Great location with fabulous views! Pauline & Dennis are incredible hosts! Very welcoming & thoughtful to our every need. We’d return to the cottage after a day of exploring and the wood fire would be going so it was snug & warm. The food at breakfast was delicious, healthy & plentiful. We’d recommend Chartre Manor to anyone who’s traveling to Thames.
The hosts were wonderful and the furnishings beautiful. The suite we had was on par with a luxury hotel. The views from the room and private deck/balcony were amazing. Also the kitchenette and sitting area was well stocked. They have thought of everything to make your stay so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious!
Have you stayed at Motel 6, or Super 8? Basically the same, but with a small kitchen and more clean. Decently clean for my standards, which are moderately high. Bed sheets and towel very clean. Gave us free milk and cookies! Just kidding, pretty sure the last guests forgot them in the fridge.
We had a lovely stay - the hosts are so lovely! Breakfast was great and we got to try New Zealand honey and marmite. Kelsie also stored our bags for us while we went for our hike, and gave us chocolate biscuits on our return! Definitely recommend staying here
It’s location, cleanliness, well supplied, even a make-up washcloth! And a large comfy bed. The cute little back porch with table and chairs was perfect for enjoying a meal and listening to the birds and the nearby stream.
The owners were very hospitable and friendly. Very clean throughout the hotel and Comfortable beds. Beautiful historic hotel with a nice blend of modern touches and feels fresh. Great location!
Beautiful garden, nice two storage cottage. Own terrace with a terrific view over the coastline.
Beachfront position. All new interior decor. Convenience to Thanes and Coast.
Cute motel with charming chalet-style rooms. Very comfortable bed.
Pleasant location on the Pohotokawa coast near Thames
Our cabin was very homely and cosy. Very welcoming. A nice place to base yourself to explore. We didn’t have enough time to unfortunately. Check in easy very friendly with useful tips for dinner. A slight hiccup when arriving at Auckland airport the next day to return to Sydney when I didn’t have a very sentimental Pandora bracelet on. I was convinced I had thrown it in the bin. I was very distraught and my friend calmed me down so I could email the park. Which I did and they did check the bin. I had found it in my suitcase the next day which brought tears of relief - a big thank to the wonderful staff that did search for me
The view from the top of the mountain is incredible. The friendliness and warmth of the proprietors made it feel like we were part of the family for our stay.
great location very friendly and it's the cleanest place we have stayed in
An owner who has considered every need for the traveler
