Urabamba is a wonderful local feeling town with a nice square where you can find very good restaurants. There is a Saturday vendor market around the square and a big fresh market every day only a few blocks from the ,main square. Easy to navigate. I ate at Forty, Big A and Migas. The best way for not getting soroche or altitude sickness is to drive straight from the airport to the Sacred Valley and stay there at least the first 3 days of your stay in Cusco. This is the best way to get your body used to such a high altitude and avoid getting sick. Urubamba has great restaurants and hotels all around, so there’s plenty of choices for lunch and dinner. The weather is much warmer and nicer than Cusco and it’s a great hub for visiting the ruins around the place.Guest review byVanessa VPeru - 10.0

Urubamba is the perfect base from which to explore the Sacred Valley. It's also a quieter, less overtouristed alternative to Cuzco. Visitors can walk clear across town without being stopped by touts every few steps, but getting to Ollantaytambo, Moray and Maras is a breeze (and cheap). The town also has plenty of great dining options, all for much less than you'd pay in Cuzco, and it's perfect for people watching. It may seem a bit rough around the edges at first but within a day you'll find it comfortable and even homey.Guest review byAndreCanada

My daughter and I were treated like family while we were there, they even baked a cake for my daughter’s birthday and sang to her! The breakfast was great - especially the avocados - they grow in the garden. The beds are comfy and nothing is any trouble for Danitza and Mauro. The hotel is set around and ancient hacienda with multiple courtyards, terraces and a museum and cinema. The gardens are perfection, the pool, lakes and island chapel all lovely. The spa is world class and the chef worthy of international recognition. And the staff……. Close enough to walk around Urubamba but not in the middle to be in all the chaos. The area looks great and the bedrooms are comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. We got fantastic recommendations for places to eat and they offered breakfast before the usual time since we were going early to Macchupicchu. Breakfast was delicious as well.
