The hotel is wonderful. Central location, beautiful and the staff are fantastic. We attended the Ironman event, so we had extra luggage, bikes and none of this was an issue. The reception staff and concierge went out of their way to make things as easy as possible. The hotel breakfast started early on race day and again, nothing was too much trouble. Room was just as described and the welcome treats really were a gorgeous touch. Check out was a little later (midday) which made the stay even better.

FAQs about hotels in Cascais

Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort

Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.

King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.

Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.

Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.

We came for one weekend in the Festas do Mar. We had a great time. The festival was great, with our favorite Portuguese musicians, and we went to see the mercado, some art galleries and just wandered around town as well. Had a great time.

Very nice and relaxing stay near the beach.

Very nice and relaxing stay near the beach. Old town offers lovely lodging and all that one needs for visiting a beach town. Good restaurants, shops, some historic sites to see, cycling available, lots of beach options North and South from town. Easy to train to Lisbon without having to stay overnight in the big city. Easy to get to Sintra via uber, bus, train or car. Loved it and would love to come back.

A great city with many natural and historical attractions.

A great city with many natural and historical attractions. But it seems that tourists with cars are not welcome here. Unfortunately, I did not take a photo where you would see a car parked in a clearly defined parking space with a "parking" sign next to it, with a valid (not expired) receipt for payment under the windshield and a receipt for a fine for parking in the wrong place next to it ))

    Lots of evening activity.

Lots of evening activity. Some restaurants and bars with live music. A lot of the old town has cobbled streets which are uneven and in many places some cobbles were missing, making it a poor surface to walk on. Lisbon and Sintra either a train or taxi ride away.

A fantastic traditional and classic 5-star hotel with experienced staff. The hotel is just beautiful, but it is the staff that makes it also a comfortable hotel. Staff that immediately spots you and understand what you need. If you like the combination of golf, spa, swimming pool and nice food this is a great place to go. If you need a beach its just a short walk and Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon are around the corner. If you don't want to golf every day at the golf course of the hotel, there are plenty of other courses within reach.

All the staff were excellent and made for a very comfortable stay. Next time we'll choose one of the rooms with a balcony as our room was okay but a bit smaller and right over the front of the hotel and car park. The breakfast was one of the best we've had. Absolutely great location with a wonderful view over the beach and sea and a very short walk into town.
