Monte Gordo's beach is amazing. You can walk for hours!
Monte Gordo's beach is amazing. You can walk for hours! The boardwalk is great with lots of toilet facilities. Many great eating places and mini supermarkets make Monte Gordo a perfect place to visit. We caught the local bus in and the local train out. A car is not necessary.

We love the beautiful sandy beaches and safe water.
We love the beautiful sandy beaches and safe water. Plenty of walks along the beach to Vila Real and Praia Verde. Buses to Tavira, Ferries to Taviraa Island and also to Ayamonte for a taste of Spain!
Everyone is friendly, there are numerous cafes and bars along with some very special restaurants. You could spend all day just eating and drinking!
We happened to be there for the Golden Pigeon Race - what an atmosphere! We also witnessed murmurations of starlings on two mornings. On one visit we spotted dolphins and every time we enjoy watching the fishermen take their boats out and return with their catch. We have seen many changes to Montegordo over the years and look forward to returning many more times in the future!

Monte Gordo was an excellent place to stay for around a week. There were some excellent restaurants and the beach was great for long walks, even if the water was too cold to think about a dip!!
The town was quiet and clean and offered some trips to nearby sites that were good for a visit. A great area to cycle around and not far from the Spanish border if you fancy a trip over

It is a simple, safe walking town.
It is a simple, safe walking town. Very comfortable walking town and pleasant. Took trips by taxi to Villa Real De San antonio (3 miles) and took the Ferry to Ayamonte, Spain. This is a nice town to relax and enjoy life. We were going to rent a car and tour the Algarve, but there were not cars available. So plan ahead if you want to rent one.
We ate lots of good fish and sea food at very reasonable prices. We just had a wonderful relaxing time.

Loads of choice for food and drinks in a calm, relaxed environment.
Not a town for rowdy nightlife, but plenty of room for dinner and drinks in a relaxed and mature environment.
This is the best hotel in Monte Gordo. Boutique style. Not in the main area, so many might miss it, but it’s wonderful. Lovely grounds. They have really gone the extra mile on room cleaning too. They offered us an early check in and throughout the day all rooms were fully aired and super clean. A lovely vibe about the place. A cute outside area with orange groves and the downstairs rooms have hammocks and a little private patio. Very reasonable in price and a great find away from the main tourist trap
Close to the beach, shops and great restaurants. Easy to find parking, breakfast was also very good...hot or cold breakfast.
My room was large, king size bed, great shower and two balconies....will stay there again, next time. Near important historical Templar/Order of Christ monuments.

Our first visit since 1969 when we sneaked in as teenagers to use the swimming pool.
The accommodation and general ambiance of the hotel has a touch of class.
We will be returning. Already booked for October.
The location and parking is perfect for a long or short break.
Great location, great, friendly, helpful staff. Great value for price. Rooms very clean, but a bit tired. Convenient to beach, shops, restaurants. Quiet. Fun bar. Nice breakfast and dinner buffets.
Hotel is really clean, although rooms are a bit dated but this is reflected in the price which is very good value. Its also dog friendly which is the reason we have returned so many times.
