Kasia & Pawel were excellent hosts. They went out of their way to accommodate us last minute. The view from the restaurant upstairs was amazing and the small play area for the kids was prefect to keep them busy while we enjoyed the view. The fish market next door was a site in itself and would have been worth driving an hour to see. So many different species being sold as the fisherman arrived to the shore in front of the hotel. The local children playing soccer on the beach and so many restaurants within walking distance. Snorkel trips can be booked to Memba island that leave from the beach which you can easily see from the hotel.

This place is a magical little oasis with an amazing vibe. Paco & Maria are excellent hosts, super helpful with all our requests and helping to book trips. We love you 2! They created a special place with a beautiful garden, lovely 3 pools and cute bungalows. The rooms itself are spacious, super clean with comfy big beds. You can also book yoga classes or drum sessions and every week is a live music event with local singers. Was a highlight for us as well. The breakfast was always tasty and every day something different. Food in general, I mean lunch and dinner, was yummi, too! Also a big thank you to the rest of the team, everybody is so friendly and welcoming. We would recommend this place 100%!!!❤️

The staff, Silvia, Saif, Mimi and Jenny were all lovely. Enjoyed the reef walk with Ali. The villa was beautiful and felt very safe. The food was probably the best we had in Eastern Africa. Live music on Friday night was incredible!

    Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

    The snorkeling was a true adventure, with well-protected marine life and crystal-clear water. Spotting the dolphins was an unexpected bonus! Visiting the sea turtle rehabilitation center and feeding them was a special experience.

    Matemwe beach was huge and totally uncrowded - some days we were lucky to see 10 - 20 people pass by! Loved the Massai beach hawkers - friendly and laid back happy to have their pictures taken - no hassle or relentless chasing - once told 'no' they respected our space. Recommend a day trip to Nungwi for a completely different vibe and fantastic sunset. Matemwe is somewhat isolated and if you want to get around you need to secure the number of a local taxi driver - always bargain hard beforehand. Most hotels organise trips/tours but at a premium.

    It was a quieter beach which was nice which also meant not too many people hassling you to buy things. Those that did were respectful. Beach is nice but the sea depth is very shallow most of the day so swimming wasn't the easiest and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.

    It’s very quiet, very few non hotel restaurants, overpriced food everywhere, can’t swim in the sea unless you don’t mind knee deep water. There’s no town, or town centre outside the beach hotels, so a long stay would be challenging if you want more than just lounging by the hotel pool.

    Matemwe and its area is a quiet place where you can relax and enjoy the beach, the activities (snorkeling, swimming with dolphins) especially if you are a couple, because the village is not very full of enterteinments or night parties.

    Great location, directly at the most beautiful beach of Zanzibar. Very large infinity pool and plenty of other pools to swim and play in. A lot staff and all very friendly. A lot of activities to choose from. Yoga with Sachin is really incredible, he is one of the best yoga teachers I have ever met. He will offer 2-3 group classes as well as 1:1 training on demand. Yoga and was my main activity during my stay :-) The live cooking event at the Asian restaurant was amazing too.

Provided fantastic advice around Zanzibar and to visit Mnemba - which we arranged directly with her. She even gave us a late check out with ample time to shower post excursion and get ready. - Quietness: just what we were after, next to the see and no tourism - Food: home made

    We decided to stay in quite a few hotels during our holidays in Zanzibar and Zanzibar Queen Hotel was definitely the best. Starting with staff, food, rooms and ending with the beach. This is the place when you can relax and you know you will be well taken care of. Highly recommended!

    By far the best accommodation we had in Zanzibar! Spacious and private rooms, situated in a gorgeous garden! Extremely quiet and peaceful. The staff is lovely and ready to help with any requests. The beach only visible on low tide but not a problem if you anticipate it.
