Tin Can Bay is a quiet little seaside town but has the basic ammenities needed for a short stay including a good sized IGA store, a licenced club, take away shops, etc. It is 30 minutes drive from Rainbow Beach which is a very popular beach for swimming and the gateway to Fraser Island with access to the island from Inskip Point via barge. Rainbow Beach also has direct beach access to 4X4 vehicles where you can drive from Rainbow Beach all the way down to Teewantin along the pristine beaches. There are also numerous 4x4 tracks to explore as well with Freshwater Track being one of the most poplular. Note that a vehicle access permit is required for beach and some track drives.

We enjoyed the location. It was a nice quiet relaxing place to visit. The meals we had were excellent at our the marina and the Country Club. The coffee shop at the small shopping area was excellent and so was there cakes and breads.

This is a great little town. Coastal location.
This is a great little town. Coastal location. Relaxed and friendly locals. Excellent fishing spot, including charter fishing boats. Some nice cafes and restaurants, particularly Sails at the Marina, the Country Club, and the Bowling Club. Not far from the big smoke (Gympie). Markets once a month. A seafood truck visits one of the Caravan Parks once or twice a month.

Tin Can Bay is a small place but there are quite a few activities available, the most famous of which is feeding the wild dolphins from the dock.
Great walkway along the estuary with lots of informational plaques about the wildlife.
Easy reach of Rainbow Beach which is much busier and crowded.

Seeing the dolphins at Barnacles Cafe is a bucket list...
Seeing the dolphins at Barnacles Cafe is a bucket list experience, run by amazing volunteers. It opens at 7am and if you wish to feed the dolphins, I advise you to arrive before then to line up for a ticket. Only so many feeding tokens are sold. Having said that, there are plenty of them. It costs $10 per person to feed a dolphin and I think it was only $5 to view. Once you have your ticket, there is no need to worry about lining up to feed as everyone with a ticket will get to feed them. Believe me, the dolphins don't go until they see the bucket is empty! Viewing is along the front where there is a bench seat and people sit on the ground or stand behind to watch. The really great thing is that the organsiers will ask the people at the front to move to the back to give others a turn at front row viewing. This rotation may happen a few times and I thought it was great to share the love. You should be prepared to get wet maybe to your thighs on a high tide when feeding. Also, you are required to remove your shoes, so wear thongs if you can rather than shoes and socks. Sadly, there is no disability access to feeding. However, a wheelie would easily be able to view the proceedings. There are also plenty of chairs from the cafe which are available to folks who can't stand for long periods. There is no guarantee how many or which dolphins will come in each morning, but it is rare they don't turn up. The fact that these wild creatures choose to come visit is humbling! Fantastic experience!

Quiet retiree town.
Quiet retiree town. Nice for a relaxing time if you can sustain yourself. Not really for kids but great as a 1 night stop for them with the dolphin feeding a playground, walks and tidal beach flat to walk out on with soldier crabs and of course fishing.
The water views contributed to mental peace. Tin Can Bay is just an ideal place to isolate oneself and rest. Not noisy- sufficient amenities in the area Great golf club and Chinese restaurant. The managers Greg and Karen were quite helpful and friendly. Greg took time out to talk about things in general. I believe he is still waiting for our game of golf. Karen is an amazing hard worker in getting rooms ready and clean Will we stay there again - yes but, just the one problem which is answered next.
I stayed in a family room and it was great. The bed was very comfortable, the room (and motel) was quiet and I felt safe and secure. I appreciated having real milk for my coffee! Richard on Reception was excellent; he recommended places to go to eat and things to do. I highly recommend doing the Australian humpback dolphin feeding in the morning. I did swim in the pool and it was freezing! The grounds are well maintained. I used the laundry facilities and quite liked the honesty box system for use.
Location is unbeatable. Superb aspect. Furniture very comfortable.. Staff super friendly. Totally peaceful environment. Very private. Visiting the dolphins at Barnacles Cafe was an amazing experience - feeling very privileged. Food at Tin Can Bay was also excellent - Chinese at the Country Club, prawns and fish at the Snack Shack, the Marina Bar and Grill, the Bakery and more - all very yummy. There is an IGA and a butcher if you want self-cater!
The house was ideal for me, very clean and spacious. The location was great, and private, with just a short drive to the local IGA and to the dolphin feeding.
The staff at Century 21 were very friendly and efficient. I'm very happy with the whole experience. Thanks Century 21 for making my stay a very enjoyable one.
More space than most motels. Microwave as well as usual tea/coffee facilities. Pub next door had decent good value meals. Jenny at reception was very helpful and friendly. She organized delicious platter of local seafood to be delivered to our room. Oh, and nice gardens and BBQ area too.
Great location, beautiful views and rooms and facilities were clean and well maintained. Greg and Karen were great, easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Would highly recommend Dolphin Waters, can’t wait to go back.
Very clean and recently updated.
The owner / manager was very friendly and helpful when enquiring about the dolphin feeding.
They supply nice cream and choc chip biscuits for your cuppa, not just the plain arnotts.
Great little motel with well appointed rooms. Clean and tidy, exactly what we were after for a couple of nights in Tin Can Bay when the weather was less than ideal. Located couple of minutes drive from everywhere.
The staff were great, the pub needs an upgrade. Especially the accommodation & upstairs areas. The hotel has so much more potential..A lot more love in the place could be amazing.
What a gem! Lovely comfortable house. Spotlessly clean. Great location near bay walkways. Quiet area. Comfortable beds. Everything you need for a great holiday ❤️
The position of the cabins facing the water was fantastic. Great access to coffee shop, restaurant, dolphin feeding and walking tracks. The bed was comfortable.
