Torquay does not feel as busy as some other places along the Great Ocean Road, perhaps because the shops and beaches are a little more spread out. The walk along the front (part of the Surf Coast Walk) is beautiful for a stroll or a jog. The different beaches in the area offer something for everyone. The area seems to be super dog friendly- lots of doggos running around at the beach. The location is excellent with the beach and main shopping centre literally down the road. Next door is a service station that sells bits and pieces you may have forgotten to pack, which was handy! The Cafes & Beaches were lovely. Don't waste time going to Squires Loft - the waitresses and food were great, however nearly a 2 hour wait for our food to be served and the manager was rude on arrival and on departure, no apology. We were extremely early for check in but this was not a problem at all, we were given an available room for no extra charge. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we felt as comfortable as possible. He also gave us excellent tips for quick trips along the Great Ocean Road. we booked Torquay Motel because of the wonderful reviews and I can agree with them all.
