Karlovy Vary owes its affluent grandeur to no fewer than 13 hot springs and a warm water river. Add to this its colourful façades and tree-lined hill setting, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of Europe’s most sophisticated spa towns.
The best views are from the Deer Leap and Diana Tower lookouts, both high above the Grandhotel Pupp, a famous 5-star hotel which starred as James Bond’s gambling retreat in ‘Casino Royale’. It also hosts an International Film Festival, but the city is really about the waters, a fact reflected in its English name – Carlsbad.
You can take the waters at the 5 springs under the Mill Colonnade, and the wrought-iron Market Colonnade houses 2 more. The Park Colonnade employs a similarly impressive style to protect 3 springs, while a geyser bursts up in the Hot Spring Colonnade. The Castle Tower overlooks the Castle Colonnade waters, and a thermal pool at Spa Hotel Thermal overlooks the city.
The beautiful churches of Karlovy Vary include the Russian-styled Church of St Peter and St Paul. The Moser Glassworks produce suitably high quality products, and the Jan Becher Museum provides an idea of what to fill them with – local Becherovka bitter.

Karlovy Vary is a fabulous place, full of beautiful historical buildings. Additionally you can treat yourself with a mineral water pouring from the many fountains that you'll pass during a city walk - just remember to have your own cup or other vessel for water. We were quite astonished that Karlovy Vary is a kind of colony for reach Russians, and when you walk through the city the dominant language that you hear is Russian. If you'd like to experience local Czech cultures and traditional Czech food, it's just a walk away from the center.

Beautiful small city, even if the weather is not enough good. A lot of people on the street, but does not annoy you/ It is like a carnaval every day. Once, I would like to visit the city in July during the Karlovy Vary international cinema festival.

The city itself is beautiful.
The city itself is beautiful. Its location at the riverside with historical-looking buildings and hot springs is exceptional. However, what the city has in architecture, it lacks in facilities, especially restaurants. In general, there are only two major types of places where you can eat: beer houses and places serving Italian cuisine. The food in most of these is pretty good, but it is super expensive - two or three times pricier than what is considered normal in the rest of the country. I figure that you are paying extra for being served in the middle of nowhere at the national border, but it just felt too much. I now think of the city as being home to the posh millionaires who couldn't care less about how much they spend on food and other services.

You can make many trips around both with travel agencies and on your own, using the offers of the Karlovy Vary Card, which you can buy on the Internet. Be sure to visit the Becherevka Museum, the tasting in the morning was very useful) The food is very dense, but you can find a Georgian restaurant, sushi and wonderful desserts.
For health - The effect after taking medicinal water does not appear immediately, but it is very effective. Sleep was restored and body pain disappeared very quickly.

I wanted to stay at least 2 nights in the Karlovy Vary because we missed the spa and some historical point including the Goethe house and view point. However, it was great chance to taste the water of emperor and the original wafer snack.
I had already visited Karlovy Vary for a day trip years ago and I decided if I ever came back I would stay in the Grand Hotel Pupp.
The hotel did not let me down, on the contrary, I was even more surprised with the structure of the hotel, the nice and helpful staff, the large and confortable room with a balcony overlooking the river. The breakfast was also unforgetable!
Even if the hotel is traditional, I enjoyed the modern twist in some of it (such as the pool and the restaurant).
Everything amazing. Has clearly features of a 5* hotel: excellent reception with welcome drinks and sweets, staff show the hotel around, amazing breakfast (both because of quantity and quality), goodbye water bottle, pillow menu, welcome chocolates in the room, heated floor in bathroom, they gave us cold fruit slices while in the sauna (that was an AMAZING point), nice spa.... Also, had a little problem with the temperature of the room, and it was fixed in 15 min. Excellent service!
Spent 5 days in Czech Republic, of which we wanted to travel for 2 night to Karlovy Vary.
And after some researches, and after finding a good offer here on booking, we have booked two nights at Retro Resort.
What a joy!
Everything is spotless clean, staff is very helpful, SPA area very well equipped, breakfast is rather sensational.
Smoked salmon and prosecco to start with.
A Bolt ride from hotel to town center is around 10 Euros.
Hotel Hubertus is about a 10 min drive from Karlovy Vary (Kalrsbad) and surrounded by woods, which is really nice. The rooms are very modern and comfortable with nice carpet. It's quiet to sleep. The breakfast was suffucient with different choices, bread, croissants, hash browns, some other warm food. There are quite a few parking spaces but if people park selfishly less cars fit. I would definitely stay again.
A quiet, cosy hotel situated in a small town right outside Karlovy Vary. The top floor suite with a big balcony that we stayed in offers a fantastastic view of the neighbouring area. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable. Delicious breakfasts with a variety of choices for all tastes, and the dishes in the restaurant were fantastic. Highly recommendable, especially for couples.
Amazing apartment right across from the Mill Colonnade! So much more than we expected. We were on the first floor with the spa just outside our door. Two balconies - one off the bedroom and one off the dining room. Very quiet at night Very comfortable bed. Walkable to everything there is to see in Karlovy Vary. Apartment was decorated beautifully.
The hotel is very historical and is around some gorgeous nature. The spa service I used, a hot stone massage, was amazing. They have such a range of options. I'd say it's a hotel more for older people but as a younger person I enjoyed it. The free breakfast was very nice. In general, the staff knows German, English, Czech and Russian.
A big thank you to all the staff at the Imperial Hotel, headed by the general manager of the spa. We spent as a couple a beautiful experience in the sanatorium and enjoyed all the services provided, including meals, treatment sessions, and others. We recommend visiting the sanatorium “spa services”and living this unique experience.
The hotel was spotless and had large king size beds available. it also had covered parking and options for larger families which is what was needed. we also liked the idea of the spa options. I also loved that they had Czech wines available on the property. We went to a few places that had no Czech wine available at all.
Awesome location, spacious, super clean and extremely elegant room!! Delicious breakfasts, very friendly and helpful, always smiling staff!! We loved our stay there, thank you dear Czech neighbours for awesome experience in Karlovy Vary!! Greetings from Poland!!
We loved the place!
The room was clean, spacious and cozy with a stunning view to the river and tourist attractions.
Special thanks for a warm welcome from the reception lady!
We will definitely recommend Hotel Petr for the visitors of Karlovy Vary!
Spacious, comfy house in a very quiet area only 12mins drive from Karlovy Vary centre.
The host is super nice and really helpful.
Unfortunately we just stayed one night and we had to leave early so we missed the homemade pancakes for breakfast.
We liked everything! It's a beautiful hotel, designed to the smallest detail. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast rich and tasty, room spacious and clean, pool cozy and relaxing. We had absolutely wonderful experience.
This was our second time visiting Karlovy Vary but our first time staying with the Grand Hotel Pupp. Thanks to the excellent staff and beautiful accommodations, it has been our favorite experience in Karlovy Vary.
walk distance to forest, horses around, clean and spacious room, friendly staff, pet friendly, a good accommodation to relax and get away from city. 10mins driving distance to Karlovy vary city center.
It's a small and beautiful hotel, with classic design. I felt like I was at home. Our rooms were spacious and very clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good but too simple.
Beautiful apartment in heart of Karlovy Vary. Clean, spacious, beautiful view, beautiful building and plenty of restaurants around. Perfect place if you plan to visit this stunning town.
