seclusion. perfectly hidden away in walking distance to the village. it was perfect for us. it rained all night so the hot tub and sleeping under the limpid bubble while it was raining was pure nirvana. highly recommend to any couple looking for a romantic get away.

Located in a quiet street. The room was pretty okay, with a spacious bathroom. There was a refrigerator, water kettle, coffee machine, TV, etc. Good breakfast is included, and was served at a restaurant on the main square, which is a few blocks away from the property. Very good value in a nice village!

Great town just to wander around, lovely little streets, plenty of photo opportunities. The restaurants in the square by the church serve very decent food - tapas and similar. Competa is located well for trips to the beach - Nerja, Maro being two we enjoyed and also for trips to the Alhambra and Rhonda (bit of a drive but worth it). Would not really like to drive on the winding road up to Competa in the dark! An April visit was a good choice, not too hot and spring flowers in abundance. There were many walking groups around - those hills look compelling but challenging!

An idyllic town on the verge of the mountains and natural park. There are a lot of expats but the town still has a very Spanish charm. Medical center open and very accessible if needed. Restaurante el Pilon has the best ever lamb chops grilled to perfection with char coal. Several small supermarkets so you won't get hungry even if you're self catering.
People were very friendly in general.

Competa is a truly charming place, a hidden gem… we fell in love with it! A winding climb by car or bus to get to it, and quite hilly walking around the village so anyone with mobility issues would struggle. It is very picturesque with its white houses, pretty planting, central church and square, and traditional life depicted in ceramics. There are lots of good cafes and restaurants and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. We did not want to leave and we will be back 😍

We recently had the pleasure of visiting malaga Hills hotel...
We recently had the pleasure of visiting malaga Hills hotel in the charming village of Competa. Coming from New York, I was pleasantly surprised by the unique experience this village offered.
Firstly, the prices in Competa were refreshingly different from what I was accustomed to in the city. The village had this wonderful small-scale hotel that exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail and personalized assistance provided by the owners made my stay even more memorable. From arranging taxis to recommending excellent restaurants, they went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
One of the highlights of my trip was the opportunity to embark on beautiful walks in nature. Competa's surroundings offered breathtaking scenery, and as a city person, it was a much-needed escape from the bustling urban environment. The peacefulness and tranquillity of the village and its natural surroundings allowed me to unwind and reconnect with nature.
Overall, the combination of the village's charm, the exceptional hotel experience, and the opportunity to immerse myself in nature made this trip to Competa and Malaga Hills truly special.
I loved the host of the home. They are from Holland and welcomed us with the best smiles and spark. From the beginning my friend and I found it easy even to just sit and have a chat with them. They gave us some welcoming Moscatel Wine which is the local one there in Compéta. Apart from that, the location of the place was quite convenient to check out all the cool restaurants, bars and shops nearby. One last thing. Breakfast included was absuloutely amazing. So much thought and care put into it I was impressed!
This was our second stay at Villa Mimosa, one of several properties we have rented in Competa in recent years. Access can be a problem in and around Competa but this property is on a 'proper' road which is well lit. Only my wife and I stayed although the size and facilities could easily accomodate six in comfort. Temperatures have been exceptionally high this year and the recently upgraded AirCon was a welcome addition. Broadband was entirely reliable throughout our stay.
Amazing value. A beautiful, clean room with very comfy beds, coffee making facilities, water and a huge walk in shower. The owner turned up one minute after we arrived and was so helpful and friendly. We ate at his restaurant that night - delicious and well priced tapas like fried rosada, fried aubergine and patatas bravas. Slept so well. And a great central location. Honestly so impressed with this place. If you come to Competa, definitely stay here!
Utterly fantastic. Amber and Jason were perfect hosts. The room was lovely, with a wonderful little private roof terrace. There was also the shared roof terrace with amazing views of the valley and Competa. Amber prepared delicious breakfast every day and were always friendly and ready to help with any advice or guidance. The location was spot on, just 2 minutes from the main square, with bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!!!!
Amazing location with a great view over Cómpeta, the hills and the Mediterranean in the distance.
Comfortable and nicely decorated apartment with AC and good WiFi.
Big terrace with a barbecue, we ate outside every day.
Although the pool is shared with the other apartment we had it mostly to ourselves, and it’s a really nice pool with plenty of sunbeds, chairs and shade around.
Loved everything! Peace and quiet, AMAZING views. Very comfortable. Fabulous pool. Very helpful house manager. Supermarkets are about 10 mins away in lovely Competa. With restaurants ,watering holes and a fabulous ice cream shop !
Casa el Boqueron has all you need for a great break. It’s the second time we have stayed and will definitely be going again!
Casa Finella is fantastic apartment, the views, the location and very quiet! Neighborhood is safe and really clean. Property had washing machine and dishwasher that is nice to have of staying longer. Lots of trails to hike just outside the doorstep! And Competa is a lovely village with friendly restaurants and all what is needed for daily life.
Albert met us upon arrival in the local plaza and brought us to the hotel 1 minute away and showed us our room, spacious and rustic charm, very clean and also had a fridge )
We went to the plaza for a meal which Albert had booked for us and also paid for our bottle of wine thanks again, lovely hotel and Competa is a beautiful village
Location is great. Right at the square in the city centre of Competa. The couple is nice and gave us some good tips. The room we had was very spacious and it's quiet. There are games you can borrow and a nice rooftop terrace. We enjoyed our 4 night stay here! Free public parking is close by but you do need to walk up the 'hill'.
Finola is an interesting and wise host with lots of experiences to share. She has a bit of a motherly vibe mixed with a storyteller- or something like that. What you’d expect from someone owning a bed and breakfast. The terrace is wonderful and property clean. Competa also serves as a good base for hiking in the area.
KiCo was by far the best home stay we had in Spain. Parking was free, very comfortable bed, hot shower, amazing breakfast, view from the terrace and central to the town. Dave & Tracy’s generosity and hospitality was beyond our expectation. If you have the chance to come to Cómpeta, this stay is a must. 😊

Location and accommodation was fantastic. Really comfortable bed and beautifully furnished. The house was traditional and the owners have a great eye for detail. Amber went out of her way to make us feel at home and was an exceptional host. Breakfast was amazing with fabulous views over beautiful Competa.
We liked everything. CasaB exceeded our expectations. It was stunning and the personal touch given by our hosts was second to none. The town of Competa was beautiful aswell. Great restaurants and vibe. We will visit again when we drive back through Spain. Fantastic. Great job Carsten and Bente.
This hotel is in a great location, especially for the El Noche de Vino as we were close to both squares with the festivities. We could also hear the music from the terrace which was nice later at night when we didn't want to be in the crowds anymore.
Salamandra Plaza is a lovely little hotel located on one of the main squares in Competa, right across from the church. The location is excellent. The rooms are small, but comfortable. There are several restaurants within steps of the hotel.
We like the communications with Maria such a lovely lady nothing was a problem for her the apartment was spacious and very nice decor right in Competa square breakfast was superb in the restaurant in the square all part of the price
The hotel was nice and clean and I really liked the little book with poems in both Spanish and Swedish. The breakfast was very good and the staff friendly and paying attention. The location was great, we were hiking the GR7.
Peaceful rural location about 2 miles outside Competa. Well equipped Casa with great views from the terrace & a wonderful pool. Comfortable with good wi-fi considering the location.
