It had an excellent homely feel with facilities to match, a comfortable bed, and the ensuite was spotlessly clean, with a nice touch with the bedside refreshments.
We would stay again when traveling to Northern Ireland I Would highly recommend this accommodation.
Rhins of Galloway offers high-quality accommodations in a garden setting overlooking Loch Ryan. It is located between the ports of Stranraer and Cairnryan, and offers free on-site parking.

Breakfast made to order and was great. Room was excellent with every detail thought of.
Featuring its own curling ice rink and an indoor pool, North West Castle Hotel is located opposite Stranraer harbor, which serves as the main ferry port between Scotland and Ireland.

The rooms were big and spacious. Good for a family stay. We had the bungalow and it had a parking for free which was amazing. The toilet is nice and big and clean. Loved everything about the stay. Had a restaurant that served full course meal and was nice too, another plus point.
With picturesque views across Loch Ryan, this hotel is located in south-west Scotland, close to the ferry ports to Ireland. It has 2 spacious bars, free parking and free Wi-Fi.

Very friendly welcome and lovely clean rooms. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious!
Located in town center of Stranraer, The Royal Hotel features a beer garden and bar. Stranraer train station is a 10-minute walk away and the Stena and P&O ports are located nearby.

Balyett is wonderfully located just outside Stranraer, off the road to Cairnryan. The room was extremely comfortable and I loved the bed; it was very soft (which I like) but may not be to everyone's taste. The bathroom was small but was modern and clean.
Lovely breakfast on one long table.
Homey, friendly and immaculately clean accommodations.
Homey, friendly and immaculately clean accommodations. Pat was so helpful. The driveway is a bit hard to see on the way by but the place is scenic and convenient for leaving on the ferry. Ate a great meal at the Custom House pub.

The location is great, especially for access to the ferry ports. We visited Logan Botanic Gardens, Glenwhan Gardens and Castle Kennedy which are all within a short drive from Cairnryan. We had a lovely meal at Henry's Bay House restaurant in Stranraer. Also had a nice snack from Subway in Stranraer and delicious soup with home made bread at Glenwhan Gardens.
Would avoid trying to find somewhere to eat in Stranraer town as there are few restaurants that looked appealing.

It was where we caught the ferry to Ireland and if ever going again I would definitely use Cairnryan. We used a restaurant by the name of Henry’s Bay 10 mins away and it was very nice would recommend they did a teatime special that was excellent value for money and the staff were very attentive. The route to Ayr from Cairmryan has a beautiful coast way and well worth a drive to. There were some breathtaking views.

Cairnryan sits on the side of Loch Ryan and is therefore one sided. The village is 10-15 minutes from Stranraer which has plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. As a touring base or a stopover for the ferry Cairnryan is ideal but if you want nightlife that’s out.
We ate in Henry’s Bay House Restaurant which is very good. As for activities for young couples my wife and I are 73 and 70 years young so no advice on that. On the other side of the loch there are quite a few nice beaches within a 12 mile drive but take a picnic. As stated above touring is ideal. Portpatrick and the Mull of Galloway are well worth a visit in fine weather, as are Castle Kennedy and Logan gardens.

The whole experience was made easy by the friendliness of all. The only problem I had was it was too short. I would have liked to have been able to stay for a few days. But was unable to do so because of the nature of my travel reason.
We found our Garden Suite very comfortable. Check in/out was very easy. Our suite was very very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Lots of black glass which is a nightmare to keep clean and it was all spotless. It was so peaceful and really for us just perfect. Paul recommended Portpatrick so we went there and had lunch in Mount Stewart and it was fantastic. We opted for no breakfast but when handing key back we got the aroma of breakfast and kind of regret it now but always next time.
This is an excellent guesthouse. I couldn’t fault it in any way. The owner, Pat, could not have been more helpful with organising a booking for dinner and directing me how to get there. I believe this is presently the only B&B in Cairnryan, which is the closest village to where Stena operates its ferries to Belfast. The Stena terminal is less than 5 minutes away (which was relevant to me because I was travelling to Belfast).
This is an excellent B&B a short distance from the ferry terminals of P&O and Stena. Great attention is paid to detail with the end result being that it would put many (if not all) of the hotels in the area to shame. My room was excellent with a few extras not expected in a B&B. Breakfast was likewise great. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the owners of this establishment.
Booked for 1 night due to late ferry and what a hidden gem this hotel is. Absolutely loved our stay. Room was spacious, spotless and had everything you need and more. Breakfast was amazing with great selection. Free on site parking a bonus. Exceptional!!
Lovely place, exceptionally easy for the ferry I needed to catch the next day. Maggie is a gem and made me feel right at home immediately! The room was lovely and much larger than I had anticipated. I only wish I could have stayed longer.
We liked everything! Pat paid attention to every detail down to crystal decanter in the room with sherry. Great shower comfy beds homey friendly and convenient to the ferry. Pat will even dive you there. A definite 15 out of 10 lol
We had a wonderful stay! The room was comfortable and had everything you needed! The breakfast was outstanding! Excellent location to catch the ferry in the morning to Ireland! We would stay again for sure!
We stayed in the Gloucester Suite . This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in and we highly recommend it . It is a great place to stay particularly good for the Ferries from Cairnryan to Belfast or Larne
Pat was extremely welcoming , friendly. and we felt very much at ease. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. Pat provides some extra touches that make a stay in Cairnryan B&B special.
Fantastic location and the view of the bay, wow!
Absolutely love this location. Beautiful inside with the touch of care you can admire.
Breakfast was the best we had in Scotland.
best value hotel we have ever stayed in. friendly . breakfast was fabulous . the vegetarian full breakfast was the best I’ve ever had anywhere . room was excellent. very clean.
The quality and comfort of the rooms was on par with a 4* hotel. The home cooked breakfast a very welcome surprise. Pat is a lovely host who genuinely enjoys welcoming guests.
Absolutely ideal for travellers heading on the early ferries from Cairnryan. Great night's sleep, nice to relax after the journey with a well appointed kitchen and comfy sofa.
Easy access to Cairnryan port. Very friendly welcome, and cosy clean room and en-suite. What more could we ask for when traveling. Delicious Scottish cooked breakfast.
Lovely family room on the top floor. Two very large rooms with a bathroom in between. Perfect for a family and less than a 5 minute drive to the ferry.
