This was the worst experience ever I went to the hotel after booking and paying for it got to the door and they refuse me at my entry they told me that I needed to pay more money on WhatsApp and if I didn't they would not let me in they left me out in the cold all night disgusting
Its a pleasant city. The area very suited for students studying in Sunderland.

You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

It far exceeded expectations.
It far exceeded expectations.
The accommodation was really lovely and to a high specification.
We had a fabulous meal out at Antico who fitted us in early when already fully booked and a really nice walk down pier in the evening.
Struggled with finding DC chargers for car though :0(
Will definitely stay here again. We booked in to be near Stadium of Light for a concert. This hotel and their staff went above and beyond to accommodate everyone who was attending the concert. They had arranged a pamphlet with all the details one would need to get their way around. Good choice of hot and cold items for breakfast. Lovely, clean and comfortable room. Attentive, polite and friendly staff. Not too far to the Metro.
Fab location right on Roker seafront, easy access to both Sunderland and Newcastle. The room was modern and clean and the en suite was nice. Plenty of parking out front and they let us drop off the car before check in so we could go into the city centre and have a walk around.
Very friendly staff happy to point us in the right direction and have a little chat.
Great location in Seaburn, just off the main road so lovely and quiet. Nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast cooked to your requirement. Excellent value for money compared to some of the nearby hotels. Lovely walk from Sunderland train station along the river and coastal path to Roker and Seaburn. Beautiful beach.
this booking surpassed all my expectations!! We were in Sunderland to see P!nk and we’re spoiled, with the hotel lobby decorated with p!nk cardboard cut-outs, her music playing, staff wearing her T-shirts and my daughter was spoiled with goodies, even allowed to take a life size pink home with us! amazing service!
Nice luxury hotel to stay in with a sea view and a grand old building too, would of used more facilities if stayed there longer. Good secure parking at the rear and the beach is just across the road. Easy travel to city centre or to South shields and beyond.
Excellent helpful staff.
Good location for Sunderland City Centre great room very comfortable, clean and ideal with three single beds for our stay. Self serve kitchen with cereals, bread butter jams milk in fridge to make a hot drink. Free Wi-Fi is a bonus
My daughter is at University in Sunderland and the Garden Hilton is the hotel we like to stay at as it is clean, value for money, has a great restaurant for evening meal and a breakfast that sets you up for the day
I have stayed at the Roker Hotel multiple times now and every time everything is always perfect. The staff are super friendly and very helpful.
The rooms are always clean and welcoming.
Breakfast always amazing.
The location is great, the views of the shipyard/sea was great. Its a great base for Sunderland/Roker Pier/Travel to Newcastle/Northumberland. The apartment was spacious and has a good layout/amenities inside.
fab friendly staff on arrival, room was very nice, a good size and very clean, with a nice big comfy bed hotel appeared very quiet and settled overnight with very little noise aiding a good nights sleep.
Everything that we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied in the apartment. The apartment was easy to find and was conveniently located for Sunderland city centre and for outlying attractions.
The hotel is probably the best placed in Sunderland.
The Inn / pub below is very nice but tees you up for a bit of a let down once you get to the rooms.
Balcony / views are excellent.
Clean well presented and maintained room. Tea, Toast and cereal available for Breakfast as downstairs is being renovated. I will stay again when I'm back in Sunderland working👍
the decor was way above standard, by far the most homely hotel I’ve stayed in, it’s a must for people travelling to Sunderland wanting to be located next to the beach
