Very central to where we wanted to be. Our room in the willows was very clean. Very good price for the room.

Rich in original character and traditional charm, this cosy 19th-century country inn offers good beers, great-value food and comfortable en suite rooms in the converted former stable block.

Room in stable block basic but clean and quiet. Dinner very good and good value. Staff good.
Walking to Matlock town center not good due to the gigantic hill you had to climb to get back!

Matlock is lovely, a few shops and good selection of bars and restaurants. We found a good walk along the cliff top and into Matlock Bath. Matlock Bath is very busy, buzzing with motor bikers, great atmosphere, a couple of pubs and a lot of Fish and Chip shops!!

Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit.
Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit. Can get busy there in summer. Limited food outlets in Matlock Bath, mostly fish and chips. Lots of motorbikes when the weather is good so traffic held up. Easily accessible by train from Derby and bus from Sheffield only cost £2.00

Matlock Bath has 24 fish & chip shops (!!!), a couple of traditional pubs and an excellent Indian restaurant, The Balti.
For fine dining, go to Stones in Matlock itself. Fabulous!
Traffic is awful at weekends and especially Bank Holidays.
Cromford Mill is a must visit (with the volunteer tour guide).
Famous bookshop and great Chocolate Shop also in Cromford.

Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral.
Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral. We have been to Matlock and the surrounding area before and would certainly stay at this accommodation again. It was very central. This is an ideal location to travel around and is very cost effective.

Matlock Bath is such a beautiful place , the views, the walks, and a lovely restaurant called The Seafood Cave and Grill. The food here was omg so fresh and tasty! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, not cheap but worth a visit. Some of the other local pubs ran out of food on a Saturday afternoon which baffled us to be honest? Lots of fish and chips available which seem to appeal to motorcycles. The walks are beautiful and the heights of Abraham are well worth a visit.
It is a lovely cute cottage in a great location. Perfect for a couple. The bedroom was a good size and easily accommodated our two suitcases with plenty of extra room to walk around.
Only a short walk to Matlock town centre. Matlock itself was ideally situated for the activities we had planned in the Peaks/Dales. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed. I especially loved the shower, bath and very comfy bed.
I just wish we could have stayed for longer!
Hodgkinson's Hotel is situated on a busy main road in the centre of Matlock Bath. There is limited parking for 4 cars in an adjacent road and up a steep hill. This is manageable if you have a good level of fitness. You can drop your bags at the hotel first, although you will be on double yellow lines and blocking the road. The Hotel is a beautiful character building, both inside and out, so understandably the interior can look a bit tired in places.
The place was lovely, with lots of period features, high ceilings, loads of light and everything you need. Very spacious and clean. The beds were super comfortable and the bedding and towels were provided. It was really centrally places which did mean there was a bit of street noise that you'd expect, but it all died down by a reasonable time and the 'kids room' is at the back so not an issue. Great location for the Matlock Illuminations.
The hotel sits in the most beautiful location - 2 minutes walk to the village of Cromford with all its industrial heritage.
The food at the hotel is exceptional. Beautifully cooked and presented and the staff were absolutely lovely. Engaged with you and nothing too much trouble. We had a small double room in the seperate building but no problem there at all. We are certainly going back.
Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.
The interior decoration and facilities were really nice and far better than expected. Rachel has done a wonderful job of setting up the Maisonette. I had a couple of questions and Rachel was always responsive and helpful. The location is very good, its just a five minute walk into the very centre of Matlock.
Thel owner's Chris,Zoe and their staff have kept this hotel very quirky and welcoming, beautiful victorian decor.
Really comfortable beds ( best sleep in a long time )
The breakfast is amazing with plenty of choice and very good menu for evening meals.
Looking forward to our next visit 😀
Beautiful cozy little home a short stroll up the hill from Matlock Town centre!
Spotlessly clean with a beautifully fitted out kitchen and bathroom - a perfect little place for a break from it all!
Excellent communication from Judith, the owner.
Can't fault and will definitely be back!
We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.
Situated between Matlock and Matlock Bath and central for visiting the Derbyshire dales. Within a short walking distance from Matlock bath and it's facilities. Great if your a walker, with walks from door. Clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly hosts, and a great breakfast.
This was a beautiful location with the hotel set in immaculately designed and kept grounds with lovely country views in all directions and yet very close to the village of Cromford, the spectacular gorge of Matlock Bath and the beautiful steep-sided wooded valley of Via Gellia.
The location is very good between Matlock and Matlock Bath. The staff and service were excellent. Bar facility was good. Parking was good although it gets busy. Included breakfast was simple but welcome. Hotel is very good value.
Very relaxed and friendly. Spacious bedroom with nice view. Good sized bathroom.
Good value for money restaurant.
PS 3 pin socket beside window wouldn’t accept plug.
