This was our favorite hotel during our stay In the UK. The staff made us feel at home and the hotel restaurant is fabulous, one of the best meals we ate during our trip. We will definitely be back again

The camping pod was really cosy and clean, much roomier and more comfortable than I expected. The pods are really well kitted out with kitchenware and home comforts, which is perfect for a solo traveller who can't carry too much with them. Lovely little coffee/tea hamper provided and the hob was really easy to use.
The pods are warm and well lit, with a great little decking area to sit out on into the evening.
Very comfortable beds and bedding, plenty of towels in the shower room and all the little extra things you might need have been thought of.
I would highly recommend the Scallows and would love to visit again myself one day.

I liked the self-catering possibilities and the room was very warm. Bed was cute, but access there was not what i expected... It was nice and quiet location.

So much history. Loved the buildings, the motte and bailey castle, the priory remains in the park, the independent shops and cafés. Everything is within walking distance. Great to have a railway station and Brighton only 9 miles away. Superb views and walks over the South Downs.

Interesting county town.
Interesting county town. A few things to do inside there (eg castle and priory, Depot cinema by the station). Or excellent transport links to coast (Seaford preferable to Newhaven unless you want to catch the ferry to Dieppe) and Brighton of course. The self contained area of Downs to the east are my favourite. Quieter than the main range of the Downs to the south so you can just roam around and enjoy the peace. Or you can walk along the river as far as Newhaven but this can be quite muddy when it's been raining. Beautiful flat walk though if you go when it's dry, or don't mind mud!

I lived near Lewes from 2000 to 2005 so know the area. Am fond of the Riverside area with its eating places, also the High Street. Perhaps not a huge amount going on, and perhaps the "Information Centre" could be
done up/revamped a little more, but the town is in an excellent central location for a holiday spent exploring locally.

Lewis is an old town full of interesting history, lots of old buildings and of course the castle that's always worth the walk up the hill, don't worry if you're not too fit as you can get a local bus to the top of the hill. Lots of wonderful pubs and cafes in the town centre along with some nice restaurants. The town is surrounded by stunning scenery all around.

I stay in Lewes frequently for visits to Glyndebourne.
I stay in Lewes frequently for visits to Glyndebourne. The local taxi firm (GMC Taxis) are very good and are prompt when picking up at the arranged time both to get to Glyndebourne and to return.
The town itself has much to offer with interesting shops and historic places including the Castle.
Hotel accommodation is very limited since the closure of The Shelleys and Pelham House. Parking is expensive

LEWES IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!
LEWES IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!
HOWEVER DO NOT STAY AT PREMIER INN !!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE A TOTAL JOKE AND NOTHING LESS THAN DAYLIGHT THIEVES WHO NEARLY DESTROYED MY WEDDING WITH 2 MISTAKES ON OUR BOOKINGS.
The Dorset on the other hand is a Lovely place to stay and would recommend it to anyone whishing to stay in Lewes.
Do your research, this is not a hotel, it is a compact self contained studio type apartment, in a residential area. Do not let that put you off. It is very well decorated, very clean and well equipped for a couple. The terrace is a sun trap, very relaxing to chill at end of day. We chose the location as a base to travel out from the town of Lewes. Meadow view suited us perfectly, it is about 20 minutes in to town walking, or a 5 minute drive. essentials were replenished daily. We had a good stay. The internet connection was very good.
The staff was efficient and friendly. They helped me with my questions about visiting Lewes and parking. I loved the menu and the beer was fresh and exceptionally good. I didn't have to wait long for my food at all. The location was perfect, on the quiet end of town with free overnight parking right across the street. From 9 am, you have to pay for parking, but it's only £4 for all day parking. The shops at this end of town are really interesting, and Cafe du Jardin is right across the street for lunch.
Great location - 5ish mins from the station; about the same to town centre. Opposite a pub, and around the corner from several cafes/restaurants. Very quiet area. Good sized and well-appointed kitchen and living area. Sara, the host/owner, was communicative and friendly before arrival and happy to offer advice/tips on the area, and was very pleasant when meeting us prior to departure. Overall, The Goldings is a great base to explore Lewes and its surroundings.
Lazslo was very helpful on arrival and departure and all in between. \There are no services at the hotel, so hard to comment, but if you wanted a drink or meal, you would have to bring your own or call one of the food delivery people, This was highlighted at the time of booking though. I assume this is due to the current staffing crisis in the hospitality industry
The house is just a minute or two's walk to a bus stop to Lewes town center. A quality breakfast basket was supplied with muesli, croissants, preserves, tea and coffee with milk and bottled water. The lounge overlooks the patio garden, has a wood burning stove and a luxurious sofa. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering but we only stayed one night.
It was a lovely welcome, very clean, deluxe, comfortable, great products, high thread count bed linen, warm, cozy and tastefully decorated. Small kitchen and private living room was ideal and the ease of being in the heart of Lewes was so convenient. Vicky was so accommodating and responsive. I highly recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat!
Absolutely beautiful room in a very central location. We stayed in Lewes for a special occasion and the host was so welcoming and accommodating. There is a private parking space very close and everything is the room is so thoughtfully considered.
Service was fantastic from end to finish and the inn is both quaint and elegant!
The breakfast was exceptional; delicious array of pastries and dishes on both the buffet a menu to order from.
Our room was very comfortable and clean
Comfortable and homely with a warm welcome from Linda and Sally. Delicious and generous breakfast, very clean spacious room, nice views, every effort made to make us feel at home. Thank you Linda and Sally!
Staff friendly and attentive, location near town centre was good, though the immediate area a bit shabby. Good breakfast. Surprisingly quiete for its location. Decent pubs and restaurants close at hand.
Wonderful old hotel in main street of Lewes. Very clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant. Superb breakfast in expansive buffet area. Easy parking. Well run, priorities right.
perfectly proportioned! So delighted to have a cooking space whilst away. Loved the little touches such as the pictures on the wall in the bedroom (see attached).
A great host who was very flexible regarding our needs. A clean, comfortable and stylish accommodation which we will happily return to on our annual Lewes visit.
