For a hearty lunch or a tipple or two, the closest pub is The Bridge Inn, while the nearest restaurant is located at Irton Hall, just 4 minutes away by car or you can take the footpath over the fields, which is 1 mile away. The nearest lake is Wastwater which is surrounded by idyllic landscapes and located at the foot of Scafell Pike. As a renowned place for climbing, many venture to Wastwater and the Wasdale Valley to scale Scafell Pike, however, those not ready to embark on the ascent to the summit of England’s tallest mountain can enjoy a scenic stroll or a picnic by the shore. For a family-friendly day out, Muncaster Castle and Gardens is just under 10 minutes away and provides 77 acres of woodland and gardens to explore, while a tour of the magnificent castle is also a must. Meanwhile, other nearby activities and attractions include Eskdale Golf Course, South Lakes Safari Zoo, Honister Slate Mine and Westlakes Adventure, where you can experience canoeing, paddle boarding, rock climbing and bike hire to name a few. The famous La’al Ratty narrow gauge steam train, visiting Eskdale Green and Ravenglass, is also worth a visit. If you would like to venture towards the coast to admire the breathtaking seascapes, Drigg Beach is within easy reach and dog friendly all year round.
