Agios Nikolaos is well worth a visit, this being our second time here after a day trip last year. This year we stopped here for 2 nights at the end of a tour around the island. We could probably have stayed for another night, 2 more at the most. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to visit, both during the day and night. Such a scenic beautiful place with so many restaurants and bars offering quality food. At the time of year we visited it wasn’t too busy or noisy but still had a buzz and atmosphere. We came for 5 nights half board and we enjoyed every moment. Agios Nikolaos is 10 minutes drive and it is a beautiful small city. Also must see is a little village Plaka in front to Spinalunga Island (from the book the Island) is 20 minutes drive. Kritsa is also a nice village 20 minutes away. Busy town with plenty going on. Cruises and a little train doing local tours. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and plenty of authentic Greek food. A few hills but nothing too energetic.
