We would high recommend the company “BOAT SAFARI IN KOGGALA” as a fab & knowledgeable company to do a boat trip around Koggala lake. They were so knowledgeable about plants, wildlife and the islands. A fascinating 2 hrs. We would definitely recommend. They can organise tuk tuks to get you there and back also.

Ahangama town has changed from a very busy fishing village to a hotspot in the south of Sri Lanka. And that at a rapid pace. There are many new and good restaurants, parties on the beach or in rooftop bars. The quiet time is over. For travellers seeking peace and quiet, the inland of Ahangama is more suitable. But here, too, there is a tendency towards more posh hotels with DJs in the evening and overpriced food and coffee - unfortunately.

Ahangama is a totally calm and peaceful and crowed less seashore metropolis with majestic palm trees all round it. there is no sound apart from the waves hitting the shore and swaying of the timber making it ideal for a chilled holiday. A small city in Southern Province, Ahangama is a mystery treasure in Sri Lanka. recognized for its pristine beaches, glowing waters, and picturesque landscapes, this town is indeed one of the maximum beautiful ones in the united states. although it isn't completely developed, it's far effortlessly available thru Galle, a first-rate metropolis that lies only 20 minutes from Ahangama. This metropolis, being the epitome of serenity, is certainly one of the right getaways within the country. Ahangama overlooks the cultured Weligama Bay, that is a occurring place within the town. The famous tuk-tuk takes passengers from the primary city to the Bay. Weligama is the significant surfing spot, browsing being one of the predominant points of interest of Ahangama. apart from browsing, Wellingama offers beachside stores, restaurants, shacks, and bars.

Ahangama was epic!
Ahangama was epic! We stayed at a spot called Tharanga surf villa. Seriously great location on a great beach that has waves for all skill levels of surfers. You can hire a board or get a lesson through the hotel even if you like. The breakfasts are incredible and give you a taste of local cuisine. The room is comfortable and all you need - the aircon is a big plus! When the power goes out in the area they have a generator so that’s cool. The people who own and run it are so friendly and helpful. Try hire a scooter to get around to all the different beaches if you’re staying for a while. There are loads of places to eat - try the local places they’re cheaper and their food is super tasty! We ate at a variety of local places and got Kotu and curry. Don’t go to the western owned places and pay triple the price! Try a little spot on the beach just past Open Heart cafe (which also has a great view at sunset) I don’t know the name unfortunately.

Ahangama is a busy town within 30 minutes drive to Galle, Galle Fort or Unawatuna to the North, and to Midigama, Weligama and Marissa to the South. So many restaurants/bars within and close to Ahangama, often with live music. Tuk tuks are cheap and taxis easily available for longer drives.AAnonymousJersey

Motorbike Rental, organizing a TukTuk or giving you the exact times of planned power cuts (yes unfortunately the whole island was affected by this at the time of my trip). They serve a good breakfast and you have a choice for a western or classical tasty Sri Lankan Breakfast! Rooms are new and very clean with Hot Water, good AC and also great Wifi (working remotely from with it was possible). Very close to the Beach and a couple of good restaurants and bar (Trax).

We just loved our stay at this Hotel. Has perfect Location on the beach. sea view. staff was super friendly and helpful! All attractions close by and close to best surf locations with only a tuk tuk ride away! For kids surfing this beach was not possible due to rocks - but close to Weligama with perfect waves for kids and Adults. This hotel was perfect to come back to and relax after busy day. Quiet in evenings and great pool!

They are brothers that run their business together, hotel and then the restaurant opposite the rooms. We were lucky enough to try the food, all of which was local, Sri Lankan cuisine and was really delicious. The location was perfect, just a couple of minutes walking and you’re at the beachfront of Midigama. We used their laundry service during our stay also which was helpful.
