I just arrived and will be there for some time. My advice is not to stay in Quan 1 because many buildings are not fully accessible unless in big hotels. Many hotels are in lane ways behind shops and not accessible by cars. Taxis leave your luggage on the street and you trek your luggage through the laneways to your hotel. Ho Chi Minh City is incredibly busy, with chaotic motorcycle/scooters traffic that feel like it hasn’t changed since 1970. Surprisingly, despite the chaos and frequent near-misses, there aren't any accidents or visible vehicle damage. The unspoken restraint and calmness of Vietnamese drivers stand out, contrasting with what you might expect from such dense traffic. It’s a striking reminder that different driving cultures can coexist with surprising levels of order. 3rd trip to Ho Chi Minh City, each visit has been 2 to 3 days (as a lead in to travelling the country) which is a good amount of time to stay and return to old favourites, find new places and not feel like you have overstayed. Vibrant city full of life! Absolutely loved the atmosphere and people. Navigating the city was easy and catching a "Grab" was extremely easy and cheap. Beware of taxis, we were tired one day and just got in one and got scammed. A distance that should have cost us about $3 Aus ended up costing us $30. So make sure you negotiate before you get in. Tunnels were amazing, we learnt so much from our guide. Would def recommend! Coffee shops and cafes everywhere - try the coconut coffee, its the best!Guest review byHelenAustralia - 8.0

People are nice in this city (except the customs inspectors asking for tip), food is delicious and super cheap (seafood is not cheap but still affordable), convenient coffee shops and stores everywhere. We went through and saw some the tourist sites, visited walking street, took in a movie and did some shopping. It was a basic itinerary but the people of Saigon always make this a memorable experience.
