A very interesting city centre, a mixture of modern and historic. I particularly liked the wonderful old shopping arcades. The area around the railway station was difficult to negotiate on foot due to building works.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I love Bradford as a city but the town centre was like a Ghost town with empty shops and hardly anyone around. However the Fountain Pub was fantastic and I enjoyed a wonderful curry a Chicken Bhuna with tandori rotis for £9.00! - Amaans restaurant off Legrams LaneGuest review byanilUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Wakefield is the perfect place to stay while exploring...
Wakefield is the perfect place to stay while exploring Yorkshire, with great transport links and all the modern conveniences in a walkable town centre. People are friendly and helpful and there is always something to do or see in Wakefield, including great nights out and two wonderful art galleries. Leeds and Bradford within easy reach, as are two national parks, York for a day trip and many other destinations. It's a transport hub, so you could even leave the car at home. As a base, there is a real range of restaurants available as well as leisure activities and a famous night life. There's also an excellent range of places to stay to fit all budgets and circumstances.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Huddersfield doesn't have the best of reputations, which is a pity. I think that it's an absolute gem. The buildings are gorgeous, particularly to one who looks, such detail and reference to the industrial past. From the entrance steps to the railway station, one can see a lion and a prime minister. If you roam and keep your eyes open, there is so much more. I ate at my hotel. i travelled by car,Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Halifax town is a nice little place without being overwhelmingly busy. We were there to attend a gig at The Piece Hall which is an excellent venue, both historic and having a great atmosphere. Piece Hall is well worth a visit as through the day all the independent small shops are open, ranging from craft makers to crystals, clothing and the obligatory 'magic' shop. There's plenty places to sit and enjoy a drink or a light meal. Halifax market is an impressive Victorian structure but sadlty the stalls don't really offer much in the way of interest. Westgate Arcade is an interesting part of town and close to Piece Hall. It's got a few independent shops, cafés and bars as well as places to enjoy a meal. Halifax is a good location for visiting other parts of West Yorkshire. Hebden Bridge and Haworth are both close by.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We have been to Ilkley previously, so were already enamoured of the town. The park beside the River Calder offers plenty of space for families, and a very good and popular children's playground. There are riverside walks of varying lengths, a picturesque old bridge (now pedestrian-only), and longer walks through woodland and a community orchard. Dog walkers love it, and there are many bins on the south side of the river for use by responsible dog owners. The town itself is a little gem, with a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants, a small but lively market, a bandstand featuring music on market days, an ancient church and Manor House (now a museum) a railway terminus with frequent trains to Leeds, and a backdrop of the towerinf hillside of Ilkley Moor to challenge walkers for whom the riverside is too tame! There is a regular programme of events, a cinema and a theatre, plus it's within a short distance of other attractive towns and venues. Something for everyone, in fact.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I have been visiting Haworth for many years now (fifty plus)...
I have been visiting Haworth for many years now (fifty plus). In all those years what I still love about the place is how it has remained loyal to its Bronte architecture. As well as the Bronte connection it is surrounded by some of the most beautiful, undulating countryside in the world. Some of the hills are not for the fainthearted, but less challenging walks are around that also offer spectacular views well worth the effort! Courses are run at the museum, in art and literature, for all ages which I highly recommend. The Haworth Old Hall is good for Bronte ambiance, featuring mullioned windows, inglenook fires, and good, wholesome food. Also, Haworth Old Post Office, delightfully quaint, has a great menu choice with rear, outside tables close to Haworth's parish church of St Michael and All Angel's . A day spent in Haworth offers plenty, but for the whole experience, steam trains, far reaching walks, slice of the Bronte's world, a longer stay is a must. You don't need to go far for the magic, it's all around!Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Everything close together, didn't have to walk far to be where you wanted to be. People are really friendly and we got to know some locals. Most people there love dogs and will stop you, so they can say hello to your dog. Beautiful buildings and trees everywhere. Loads of places to eat and drink. We loved the wrinkled stocking cafe, breakfast was amazing! The Holmfirth Tavern have food offers on a Monday and Wednesday, we had the steak for £10 each which was lovely. Holmfirth coffee shop, (near the Co-Op) lovely food, coffee and cakes! We met a local called Ken in there, he was such a lovely man and we bumped into him a few times afterwards in the town. The Archive, also did great coffees. Market on a Thursday in the Co-op car park and sells fresh fruit, only on in the morning though, we got there too late. Of course if you like Last of the Summer Wine, there are places to visit such as Sid's cafe, (right in the centre of town) Nora Batty's steps up to her cottage, the museum just under the Wrinkled stocking cafe, (check opening times on the door).Guest review byMrs Jill EvansUnited Kingdom - 2.0
