Palermo was a delightful surprise, a gem of a town.
Palermo was a delightful surprise, a gem of a town. It's clear that tourism, as we know it today, is still a relatively new phenomenon here, and there's much left to explore. However, that is also part of the charm of the place. Everything feels incredibly authentic; the people are kind, caring, and spontaneous, embracing the wave of tourists curious about what the city has to offer. In general, I found many individuals to be open-hearted and genuinely interested in showcasing the best of Sicily. The beauty of Palermo lies in finding a cozy corner, enjoying a nice coffee, gelato, beer, or limoncello spritz, and simply soaking in the ambiance. It's a wonderful opportunity to observe how simple and beautiful life is in Palermo. I will definitely be back.beautiful life is in Palermo. I will definitely be back.Guest review byAlejandraSweden - 4.0
The historic centre is beautiful.
The historic centre is beautiful. But, step outside the tourist area and the city is filthy and stinks. The historic centre is just a few small city blocks with a central piazza, after that, the city is in disrepair, the buildings, even centuries old ones, are vandalised with graffiti. There are many derelict buildings and the pavements are a minefield of dog mess and stink of urine. We felt that 3 nights was two nights too many. We will not be back.Guest review byrichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful, clean and dreamy.
Beautiful, clean and dreamy. When you land in catania its quite a shock, but taormina is the opposite. Amazing food, kind people and gorgeous scenery and landmarks. Great vacation with balance of beach and citylife.Guest review byHanna - 6.0
Cefalu was our forth and last stop of our vacation to...
Cefalu was our forth and last stop of our vacation to Sicilia. I went here based on reviews on social media. while a very clean nice town, I actually would not return. It is too touristy and artificially expensive for my liking. the beach is big, but lots of pebbles/rocks at the entry to the water. Also, the town is very busy, even the part which is new, with honking, crazy drivers and people staring at you like they want to kill you. we walked the old town streets, which were pretty, the restaurants were ok, but not amazing; one night we were very rudely turned away by 4 restaurants that closed their kitchens before 10 PM..which I found unusual, as I thought they eat late. Anyway..I think the fact that they get a lot of tourists make them not care about customer service, which I have to admit I found it the least pleasant out of our 4 locations. I think it is personal preference, we like small fishing villages, old towns that have less tourist traps and more authentic shops/restaurants. I am glad we went to Cefalu but would not return. I do want to return to Sicilia and see more of the south and maybe inland, where farms and authenticity is more present.Guest review byAlinaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I love both beaches and lively city centers at the same time and Trapani can offer that. A perfect cable car trip directly from Trapani to historic Erice. A beautiful sunset and a view of the illuminated Trapani. Interesting places in the vicinity: Segesta and Selinunte archeological parks, the very unusual Nuova Gibellina (plus Cretto di Buri) and bustling Palermo with majestic monuments. There are plenty of great restaurants in Trapani. I can't miss the Meno Tredici gelateria in the harbor and the great arancini at Al Pollero da Roberto.Guest review byMiroslavCzech Republic - 8.0

Indications for people who driving there are poor, I was lost, I pass in front the entrance without realizing it, poor indicators. I stop and I find another car lost too. The car parking too expensive, the entrance tickets expensive, I went really early before there were too many people, I was able to take selfies for the more important monuments without any wait line. You must be ready with plenty of water, if you are going in summer time because its a really long walk under very strong summer lights. I guess you must see it at least once on your life, like everything relevant from our pass times. Obviously I am a simply tourist without knowledge about architecture. For those that understand I am sure must be fascinating.Guest review byencarniUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beautiful town, full of life at night.
Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. It is definitely more of a touristy feel, as we went in August. Definitely explore up and down the peninsula, as there's excellent beaches and coves to swim at as well!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however,...
Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however, unusually dirty, with a lot of litter scattered along the streets. The beach, on the other hand, has wonderfully clean and clear water. People are helpful. Traveling around, take time. The only rush is in traffic. If you travel by rental car, it helps to have a good map reader in the passenger seat and a calm mind. Honking is simply a part of the traffic culture. A motorcyclist may pass you on either the right or the left. Focus on the traffic is the most important thing. When choosing a rental car, you should go for one with medium power. Otherwise, it may not make it up the hills. We had a Toyota Yaris 1500 Petrol Hybrid Automatic. It was ok. An automatic gearbox makes driving easier.Guest review byMarikaEstonia - 10.0

You can rent bikes, electric ones if it's too hot. They are available at several locations. The prices are reasonable and you can travel the entire island. The water is clean and it is worth stopping here for a day.Guest review byVesnaSlovenia
