Lovely sensory and ambient hotel. Stunning skyline view over Tokyo bay. In a quieter part of Tokyo but only a few subway stops from Ginza. The subway is joined to the hotel by a basement concourse and there is a limousine bus to Haneda airport that stops at the front of the hotel. Everything is very convenient. Rooms are much larger than most Japanese hotels - although smaller than western hotel rooms. Lovely a'la carte breakfast with small buffet for Japanese and continental breakfast. Japanese style communal bath is beautiful.

KAIKA is an ART boutique hotel you must visit if you love art and design: the feeling is unique and special, also offering a very high value for money. The hotel is stunning, the service is great, the staff is kind and extremely polite. Rooms are big, clean and nicely decorated. Full of facilities are available including Wi-Fi. Great location in a quite residential area close to Asakusa neighborhood. Subway and many busses are close by to easily explore the city. Tokyo is a fascinating metropolis with more to see and do than can possibly be achieved in the two weeks we stayed there. We will be back to see and do more. Whether you want to stroll its many beautiful parks, or take in the incredible museums in the Ueno area, enjoy fine dining or basement lounges, or party hard in the high-energy Shinjuku or Shibuya areas, Tokyo has something for everyone. Getting around is easy on Tokyo's famous rail system. Asakusa is great for shopping and dining; you'll never run out of variety.

    Love this neighbourhood.

Love this neighbourhood. I lived in Japan for several years, 2 decades ago, and I have gone back a few times for a visit. First time for me to be in Tachikawa. It has great vibe, a bit of hustle bustle, but not crowded and suffocating like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Lots of shops and cheap restaurants. Not touristy at all and you can observe locals doing their everyday business if that is your thing.

Fuchu was a wonderful town to stay in on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a slower, more relaxed atmosphere than central tokyo. The people were friendly and there was plenty to do and see. The tree lined main street leading to the temple was beautiful. And there were some local parks that were nice to walk to.

Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu Line into Shinjuku or the Yokohama Line into Yokohama if you need to hit the big time. Still comoared to most North American towns, Westerners will think Machida is HUUUUGE and super busy. For Kanto region I'd saw it's a hub for Kanagawa but manageable. Food choices at and around the station are excellent. Hotels are way cheaper than in central Tokyo yet you are only 30 to 60 mins on any train to wherever you need to go. Direct buses from Narita and Henda airports as well so no need to deal with hauling luggage on trains. Or just takyubin (courier) luggage to Mahcida from airport.

The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities. But you will likely need to rent a car to reach some of the more remote areas easily. There are buses and taxis, but you may have to wait quite a bit of time. Many of the restaurants will close during the afternoon and early evening, so be sure to have some snacks prepared or stay in a place with a kitchen.

Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo.

Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo. We explored the beautiful Inokashira Park and other points further west such as Chofu and Koganei. We ate at a great izakaya that specialises in squid called Totomaro. There's plenty of shopping, including Don Quijote and Yuzawaya. Kichijoji is on the Chuo line which connects with Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. It's also really well serviced with buses.

Tokyo is a combination of every great city that you could think of and more! Harajuku is a balance between underground and luxury design. The inner streets have all of the smaller shops that made the area popular. Residential areas are walkable and quiet despite all of the tourists. Tourist could get overwhelmed at first glance but after a day or two, they could navigate the many interesting alleyways like a pro! There's everything from themed Cafe's, fast food, to intimate spots to grab a bite and a drink so don't forget to look up! you might miss a hidden gem!

I went to Tachikawa for a concert at Tachikawa Stage Garden and it was my very first time visiting there. Life in Tachikawa seems to be a bit more laid-back than central Tokyo even though it's a big city as well. Meaning, you get to enjoy the convience and entertainment of what big cities offer, but it's a bit less crowded and less chaotic. Showa Kinen National Park is a great place. I spent two afternoons there to clear my head and connect with nature. Highly recommend. I'll definately be back for the unexplored spots such as the art museums and many eateries.
