Places around Bridgend are stunning: Ogmore, Southerndown and Porthcawl to name but a few. Shopping at Sarn is excellent. Bridgend Town sadly lacks funding but it’s still an ok town for essentials. Newbridge fields are beautiful - lots of sports are played there at weekends too. Not far from Neath falls, there Big Pit, The Mumbles - all worth while places!

Ewenny guest house is not in the town of Bridgend but in Ewenny, surrounded by countryside and woods, on the road to the coast. There are a couple of pubs about 5 minutes drive away for evening meals. It is a five minute drive to Ogmore , which is on the sea and the coastline there is a heritage coastline, with beautiful walks and cliffs and woods. Bridgend is a small town, it has supermarkets, shops and restaurants, but we did not spend time in the town, only in the countryside around.

I only use Bridgend as a stopover as I could not find reasonably priced room in Cardiff that was in a safe area for a woman travelling alone. There was a big football match and concert on in Cardiff that Tuesday night and that is why I booked further afield as there was very little choice in my price range available.

Old Manor House with an old-fashioned touch, a bit out of times but comfortable, clean and with refurbished bath rooms. We we arrived there was a school graduation party we had not been made aware of. Fortunately it finished at 10 pm, so did not bother us in the end. Very good Indian restaurant. Very good breakfast.

Liz and Rob are so hospitable, there isn't anything I could find fault with during my stay. This wasn't my first time at Ballas, as I remember being made so welcome the first time I was in South Wales as a solo traveller, I brought mum this time! The rooms are spotless, the beds are so comfortable, and it's in a perfect spot to get out and about. Breakfasts are first class, and nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely would recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.

Clean and comfortable. Plenty of clean towels. Breakfasts were of a good standard and the variety of the ingredients was excellent. Quite a pleasant stay within a rural part of the Bridgend town, which was within easy travelling distance. There were a few negative points, however. The lounge chairs are difficult to move on one's own, and the main door handle was difficult to turn. Maintenance could be better! This is a modest B/B and perhaps a little overpriced.

Very friendly staff, absolutely fabulous breakfast, proper English/Welsh breakfast. Great location, beautiful grounds and Georgian manor house. Good value for money - certainly beats staying at Premier inn or travel lodge and its cheaper than the former and significantly better than both those options. The Restaurant attached to the hotel was a Curry House and it was good, food cooked in sight of guests and food can be adapted to order.

There is so much to see in the hotel itself. A fantastic building with architectural oddities all over the place. Staff were tremendous and the rooms were very well presented with a nice mix of traditional and modern decor. I'd imagine the garden would be lovely on a sunny evening (which we didnt get..) Breakfast was good and the staff serving it was happy to deal with any requests.

Lovely little cottage near Bridgend. The property is wonderfully finished to a really good specification. Had a warm, cosy feel about the property with internal stonework, log fire and ceiling beams. We booked for Easter weekend and arrived to Easter cakes which was a nice touch by the host. We would 100% recommend the property, and will certainly be returning in the future.

The hotel is located in a very old and historic building in a small and historic village close to Bridgend and the South Wales coast. There's a large car park and a cosy, warm bar. Our room (no.5) was spacious and well appointed with a big bed. Service was very good as was the food at breakfast and dinner.

The double room we had at Mairs was excellent for our 2 night stay. The place was really clean, the room and en-suite were modern. We were in walking distance to the Bridgend shopping area. Their large, private car park at the rear of the building was a bonus. Huw was an excellent host.
