FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

So many wonderful things to see and do within an easy driving distance from Inverness. This is the place to stay to explore the highlands. We enjoyed having the advantage of being in a city with all it offers including an airport to fly in and out, History is all around you from stone age to castles. The countryside is beautiful. The seacoast is not fall away and the National Parks were breath taking.

This location was perfect for me. It was close to Royal Highland Hotel, where many of the day excursions I was booked on were departing during our Clan Munro gathering. The shopping was great, the food was fantastic, the scenery stunning.

It was everything we imagined of Scotland.

It was everything we imagined of Scotland. The local Pipeband play on a Tuesday and Saturday, keep that in mind - it was wonderful. People were so friendly. We did a tour of Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle which was great. Culloden Battle field was amazing, very airy but if you like Scottish History don't miss this - the shop was wonderful here. Inverness was a lovely place to visit!!

We didn't know what to expect in Inverness and was wonderfully pleased with what it had to offer. If you go - be sure to check out the sheep dog demonstration (https://workingsheepdogs.uk/ - the site says under construction, but still available). The city is very walkable and has many pubs/restaurants for a variety of entertainment including live music.

I watched a great performance by the band Meallan at the Under Canvas venue at Eden Court. Then I had a delicious dinner at Jimmy Badgers, a lovely mushroom risotto and a pint, followed by excellent sticky toffee pudding and an espresso martini. A lovely evening in Inverness.

Emma and Josef are excellent hosts! Really wonderful people and enjoyed chatting with them! They were very organised and also very flexible to meet our needs. Breakfast was wonderful and there were so many choices! Emma was a real dear to cater for my wife's allergies. The room was very spacious, comfortable and with a good view of the nearby countryside. The area is very quiet and peaceful and also close to Culloden Moor, Inverness and other locations with a car. We would definitely stay here if we visit Scotland again!

Close to some local attractions such as Culloden, and there seemed to be a bus stop and restaurants nearby. The food at the hotel was very good quality. Receptionist was in good spirits upon check in. Seemed to recognise 'Genius' members as we received a free drink (the only hotel that did so on our Scotland trip)

Our room was lovely and clean and close to the sights and the town. The best part is that the hotel has its own brewery/distillery on site. We stayed here at the start and finish of our Scotland trip and went to the brewery both nights. Breakfast was perfect. Definitely would stay here any time we visit Inverness.
