The room had a beautiful view! We really enjoyed the good weather that we had. We walked around the property in the morning after breakfast. We had dinner and breakfast on site. The food was really good. They offered several vegetarian and gluten-free options for those with special dietary needs. The staff were all very friendly. The lady that checked us in at night asked us if we were planning on eating dinner and we said yes. She quickly ran to the restaurant to put our name in for a table then came back and took our luggage behind the desk and asked us to check-in after dinner so we could eat before they closed. We were thankful that she thought about that.

The house was absolutely beautiful, and the rooms were very clean and the host was very kind and cooperative before and during our stay. The king-size bedroom on the ground floor was spacious, elegant, and offered a stunning view of the lake it also had a small, very equipped kitchen corner. Even though it’s on the ground floor, the house sits more than five steps above the street, making it comfortable to open the windows. The other bedroom is in the attic, accessible via a steep staircase. While the room itself has a breathtaking view of the lake and the gardens . Overall, it’s a wonderful place, and I would definitely stay again if the temperature is below 21°

Dundee is a beautiful place by the sea.

Dundee is a beautiful place by the sea. We went to the Verdant Jute Mill which is a must see!!! We ate supper at Malmaison and stayed there too. This was a perfect location as it was close to the water, the beautiful ship and the train station. The food was fantastic!!!

There was plenty to see and do for everyone. The area around the quayside was amazing. The city bus tour was also excellent, amazing views from the top deck. The audio commentary on the city was very informative.

Great city with rich social history. So much to see.

Great city with rich social history. So much to see. Rich musical past. V&A superb. Verdant Works, Discovery, the Carr Lightship. We live quite nearby but as my partner was playing for two nights with the Grand Gestures, we decided to treat ourselves, take it easy and stay in a hotel. The Apex was brilliant - great dockside location, and handy (easily walkable, even for me with my arthriticky hips and knees) for everything. Took a wee trip up to Arbroath - chips by the harbour. Couldn't be better.

We visited the V&A museum and the Discovery ship; both worth a visit if the weather isn't good. Broughty Ferry is well worth a visit as is St Andrews, which can both be accessed easily by bus.

    1. The Discovery, and Discovery Point. Amazing! 2.

    1. The Discovery, and Discovery Point. Amazing! 2. The Unicorn Frigate. Built in 1824. This old ship is another treasure in Dundee, and the staff were so welcoming. 3. The V&A -Dundee. To be honest, the contents of this museum always leave me underwhelmed, but the building, both outside and in, is a real masterpiece. Stay for lunch or a coffee in the cafe. The views over The River Tay and down onto The Discovery are Instagram-worthy. 4. The Verdant Works. Explore Dundee's industrial history in this absorbing museum. 5. The McManus Art Gallery. A beautiful building, housing a wonderful art collection. 6. Travel outside of the city centre, and just a few minutes away, is the beautiful seaside suburb of Broughty Ferry. Plenty of little interesting shops, cafes, and pubs, and a superb play park by the water for the youngsters.

Lots of hidden gems around the city and outlying areas.

Lots of hidden gems around the city and outlying areas. Visit Verdant Works another stunning conversion of a mill showcasing the history of Dundee, the local people and sheer hard work of Dundee citizens to produce jute, creating wealth for the city and owners. A museum with original machinery used during this abundant time, accounts of local people, stunning photography, children activities and areas. So much to see, read and absorb. There is also a beautiful little cafe, reasonably priced, gorgeous soup, scones etc. with a small shop selling local jute items, Scottish wares and very friendly staff. Also visit Discovery museum, local pictures, history and embark the Discovery itself docked in dry harbour next to River Tay. McManus Galleries a free museum on the centre of town surrounded by local pubs, restaurants, shops etc.

The location is good, it's on the main street in the city centre, but that didn't mean it was noisey at all. The facilities are alright, maybe it could be better with more but it's ok. The rooms were fine, they're basic, but you pay a cheap price so that's alright. Staff were good, and it's a curious place to go to, a weird old building (or two or three) so there's more character than some modern identikit hotel.

The staff were polite and efficient so check in was brief and easy, which is always welcoming after a long journey. The bed was comfortable and pillows were good, and the hotel is in an ideal location for visiting Dundee. But everything else about this hotel was disappointing. The overall experience wasn't what we expected from a hotel of this caliber.
