It was a wonderful stay at the La Meridiane Hotel The location was really great, 5 minutes from the beach and 15 from the ferry dock, the main street and the shops. The administrator provided a room that was bigger and better than the one I had paid for. The hotel is very clean and cozy. It has a beautiful garden where a wonderful delicious and varied breakfast is served every morning. The atmosphere is relaxing at every step, starting from the entrance. The hotel staff are very nice, helpful and friendly, at the first request rushing to help and doing everything very quickly. The room was cleaned every day at a convenient time for me, while I was on the beach. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the bed linen is very beautiful! Everything was excellent! Special thanks to the hotel employee, unfortunately I did not remember his name, who within half an hour installed me a new safe, instead of the non-functioning one, and told me about the city's public and private beaches. Special thanks to the administrator, Stella, who was able to convince me that a trip to Venice by vaporetto would not be too difficult, and it only took 15 minutes to reach San Marco Square! My stay at La Meridiane Hotel was an unforgettable experience! I will definitely come back!

FAQs about hotels in Venice-Lido

Chic Venetian Beach Resort

Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.

Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.

There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.

Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Staying in the Lido was great if you like to get away from the touristy hot spots. The Lido was quieter and you have access to beaches for a swim to cool down. Lots of atmosphere in the bars and restaurants. Food was really good too. Plenty of boats top and from Venice itself.

Lido is a beautiful island that makes up part of Venice, but is not part of the main busy island. You can take numerous vaporetto lines (with beautiful views!) to get to the island, and once you arrive, it feels like a different world. On one side, you have the bay with views of the the main island and can see all of the boats coming in and out, and on the other side, you have sandy beaches! The island is peaceful, but still with tons of restaurants, bars, and activities! There are buses that run along the island, but it is also easily walkable to get to where you need to go.

Venice-Lido is such a quiet contrast to Venice. It is very easy to travel to and from the city each day or make it a 'two centre break'. Pleasant to walk around with good shops and restaurants. There is also a beach if that is what you are looking for.

Its a quieter and slightly cheaper place to stay. The bars and restaurants are nice. Pizzas are from €8 good place for families visiting venice. A warm welcome when I arrived. The lady at reception was very helpful with local information on transport and restaurants. Plenty of choice for breakfast. My room had a sea view. Easy access to the beach and sea front. Calm sea front location (out of season). Ideal for a stay away from the crowds of Venice with easy access by regular vaporetto services to La Serenissima. Short bus ride to Lido centre & vaporetto station for more restaurants and bars. A hotel address worth keeping for my next trip to Venice.
