Only use it as a base for the last night rather than rushing to catch the bus back to Latacunga before 5pm. Bus in the morning left at 8.45am. Perfect! (Even though the hostel told us 8am and every hour on the hour! NOT

This is a must see beautiful place.

This is a must see beautiful place. The drive to Quiatola has some of the most spectacular views in Ecuador. The views at Quiatola are breathtaking. Be prepared to pay a nominal per person fee to get into the park at Quiatola.

The Princessa Tia Hotel is the place to stay in Quilatoa,...

The Princessa Tia Hotel is the place to stay in Quilatoa, best location, great breakfast, large room and bathroom, very clean and comfortable bed. But the best feature is the rooms all have an electric heater. Quilatoa is cold, so the benefit of the heater, which is rare to find anywhere in Ecuador, is amazing! The rim hike is beautiful but steep and slippery in places. Poles would be a good idea. The hike down to the lake is surprisingly long, steep and slippery. There are horses or mules that can take you back up for $10 pp. Get out early as the fog moves in around 4pm and obscures visibility of the lake. The sun in the morning makes the water’s colors amazing. You can take a kayak out or go for a motorized ride in a zodiac. The town is tiny and closes up early so don’t delay going to dinner. There are no pharmacies or banks and only 1 ATM which wouldn’t work with our card. Also, be careful because there are no gas stations for the entire Quilatoa Loop. Fill up before heading up either route to Quilatoa.

We were in Quitoloa during the low season. Not too crowded :) Accommodations at Cuchirawa Hostel were directly across from the crater. Ample free parking; we walked everywhere. Enjoyed a post-hike beer at a restaurant on the crater ridge.

This property reminds me of an alpine lodge with its design and use of wood. It's cosy too, with electric heaters and a wood stove in your bedroom to keep you warm at night. The bed was wide and comfortable, spacious for two people. Hot water in the shower. Decent dinner and breakfast. Quiet at night and right opposite the mirador looking out across Quilotoa Lake. We also enjoyed the chess games in the lounge area with heaters to keep you warm. The free tea was another bonus.

Cabañas Quilotoa is an absolute must when visiting the area! The place is stunning, peaceful, and incredibly welcoming. Our room even had a cozy fireplace! :D The breakfast was outstanding—hearty, delicious, and wonderfully prepared. A special thank you to the hotel team for their warmth and hospitality; they truly make you feel at home. We will always recommend this place to anyone visiting Quilotoa!

Nice room, good food, great value for the money. Staff was very nice and helpful, staff came to put fire in the fire place and it was very nice and kept the place warm. Overall all it was rather rustic but then what to expect at the end of the road high up in the mountains? Felt very safe in Quilotoa.

At only a 5 mn walk from the "Quilotoa mirador". Nice hosts, available. Quite basic amenities but we knew about it (the fact that the heating is replaced by a fireplace prepared by the host and to be handled by us was part of the "adventure"). Good dinner included in the reservation.
