The room was large and nicely furnished, but there was only one heater that didn't warm the entire room which also had very high ceilings. The kitchen was well stocked and very clean. The bathrooms were also clean with plenty of hot water, but a heater in the bathrooms would have been appreciated. Also the kitchen and hallways were extremely cold and a heater is needed there as well. I can see the hotel has had a major renovation to update the features and the result is very pleasant and comfortable accommodation.

What a beautiful property. So beautifully appointed, every room has its own personality and the artwork around the hotel is gorgeous. Also, personal and friendly service from everyone. I hadn’t realised this property is pet friendly so look forward to returning with our puppy.

The rooms were so spacious. The bathroom was huge and included a spa bath. The kitchen was well equipped -if you were staying for more than a few days to see the sights, you could cook meals and live comfortably. (We were only there overnight to attend medical appointments.) The interiors are plain but comfortable and clean. The parking downstairs is handy. The pub downstairs offers great food (My photos feature the Pub downstairs) and the cafe across the street opens at 7.30 weekdays to serve coffees and breakfast. The woman on admin was friendly & helpful.

Loved the trees and plants around the house, it was very warm and cosy, kitchen facilities were great and house was spacious. We very much enjoyed our stay. Just needs a little bit more lighting for reading, but overall it was a wonderful place to get away.

Oscars Hotel and Bar is in a very good position for accessing shops, restaurants, the art gallery, movie theatre and Lésspresso cafe which has THE BEST COFFEE in Ballarat. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything one needs for a stay. Although busy with the restaurant the accommodation area is very well protected from any noise from the downstairs eating areas. All Oscars staff I encountered (wait staff, management, room service staff) are very experienced, friendly and professional. Oscars restaurant was VERY popular over the three day weekend I was there and I can understand why (staff, position, comfort, accessible and welcoming for all age groups. Their wine list, whilst not extensive, had some good choices and I enjoyed both eating experiences over what was a drizzly, cold weekend. Parking was easily accessible down a side lane behind the building, and access with baggage easy from that area through to reception- staff will help with taking luggage upstairs to rooms - no lifts in keeping with any older style stone building that has been upgraded in keeping with comfort and style expected. I would recommend Oscars to anyone who would like to park the car and explore the CBD, or have the car easily accessible to scope out the many offerings in and around Ballarat.

So much to see and do for all types of travellers of all ages - from the recreated gold mining town of Sovereign Hill, the stately Kryal Castle, the Wildlife Park and/or Ballarat Bird World to visiting the Ballarat Tramway Museum (with a ride on a heritage tram), a walk around Lake Wendouree (with so much bird life to see), strolling the magnificent Woowookarung Dementia Friendly Forest & Sensory Trail or taking in the magnificent view from Mt Buninyong, spend time in the beautiful Botanical Gardens or even take a casual art class - there is something for everyone! A wonderful choice of accommodation for all types of travellers in various price ranges, wonderful places to eat and choice shopping experience. You’ll need to stay more than one night though!

Ballarat is a quaint little town.

Ballarat is a quaint little town. Sovereign Hill was the main focus of our visit, plus catching up with family. The kids, 12 and 9, loved exploring Sovereign Hill, and there was plenty to see and do; panning for gold, shopping for jewellery, and learning about the second largest gold nugget ever found. We stayed at Sovereign Park Motor Inn, which was perfect for our family of four. The Red Lion next door made for an easy breakfast option before we left Ballarat.

When I arrived I wasn't expecting anything flash. But I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, well appointed, clean, nothing was broken, and the bed was comfy as! I also arrived on a near 40 degree day and the lovely owners had been in and turned the air-con on before my arrival so I walked into a cool and refreshing room after my travel. Without a doubt one of the better hotels I've stayed at, and is now my go to motel if I ever stay in Ballarat again. Thankyou!

The room was amazing, bed super comfortable and bathroom clean and large, the location close to many shops. I was unable to stay the full booking due to unforeseen events back in Mel and had to leave early, the hotel were very understanding and refunded the day I wouldn't be in Ballarat, they even posted a charger I left in the room back to me. Excellent Service! will recommend the hotel to others and stay when I go back to Ballarat.

Beautiful old-style hotel, redecorated and furnished to enhance its heritage atmosphere. Wonderful high ceilings and spacious rooms. The staff were cheerful and very helpful and the location close to restaurants and the Ballarat Art Gallery was ideal. We loved the grand staircase and the quirky "heritage" lift. It's a hotel with personality, very different from an anonymous motel.
