FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

Budapest is a city that must be visited. If possible, plan your visit on the days including the 20th of August which then you can see the awesome independence day firework displays and many many other shows. I stayed for 4 nights and there were lots more to see since I do not like to rush when sightseeing, so I will visit again. The city has many transportation options, and it is very easy to use with the help of apps such as Apple Maps. The best option is to purchase a 3-day travel pass from the machines in the metro or online from the BudapestGo app. This will allow you to shorten your walking distances. Don't forget to purchase your ticket in advance for the Parliament building and don't miss this tour. Similarly, a guided tour of the Opera House is a must. Tickets for guided tours can be purchased at the door, but it's advisable to check the tour times in advance. Margaret Island is a huge park, and it's lovely to spend some quiet time relaxing here on a nice day. It's also beautiful to walk along the Danube or enjoy the view from Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, and Gellert Hill. Keep in mind that Citadel is under renovation so check before going.

One of the most stunningly beautiful cities you can see. A lot of history, culture, architecture, music of all kind, good food and good bakries, cakes at cafes. Sun and bath. Even Turkish bathes from the time of the Ottoman occupation, an Ottoman muslim pilgrimige place (Gül baba tūrbe) maybe the biggast Synagog in Europe etc.

We loved going to the Szechenyi Thermal Spa & also enjoyed a sunset river cruise on the Danube. We had a fascinating time visiting Memento Park. We were very impressed by the fact that as we were both over the age of 65, all public transport in Budapest was free

This hotel was fantastic. The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. As a side note, we did not use the wellness facilities, so we cannot comment on that. What we really liked is that this hotel is very close to Budapest city centre (about 15 minute bus ride) and yet it is out in nature. There is great trekking nearby and the public transport connections worked like clockwork. The hotel staff were very helpful and breakfast was good as well.

This hotel is perfect! It is located right on the river side of the Danubio, close to bus stops that will take you to the city centre in 20 mins. The continental breakfast offers plenty of choices and the food is really fresh. The staff is always kind and ready to help. The spa is included in the room price, there are 3 pools and a sauna. The thermal pool at 38° is the best place to relax after a long day in the city. We will come back for sure!

Excellent hospitality, people at reception were so helpful and kind, especially Bettina. It was a last minute booking due to flight cancellation and it was a welcome relief after being stuck in Budapest airport. Clean, spacious room. We were able to check in early and luggage storage was available. Location is great to get to city centre, as well as airport.
