Thermal Hots Pools are excellent, to suit all ages. Very clean, tidy and lots of Lifeguards around. Great variety of Restaurants, Pubs, Cafes, PJ's Pies, Pizza, Sushi etc. Plenty of shops from basic to high end. Only one 4 Square food market, but adequate. Very good selection of restaurants and cafes. The atmosphere and vibe is really good, many parks and spaces to walk around. Good for thrill seekers. Conical Hill is a good walk and great for the views The pools are excellent with a good range and friendly staff. However they are not cheap and hours are quite limited (10 - 7) Its close to Christchurch There are tourist prices in many places and you can spend money fast, however access makes this justifiable. Hanmer Springs is a great town to visit for a weekend or a stop by in your travels. It's small, so all of your activities barring some hikes are accessible in a short walk. Everything from the hill walks, animal park and the hot pools are very easy on the planning. I prefer to go during winter when it is quieter, but I still believe for a family or people who are overwhelmed by being away from home in the busier season, this town is a good choice.Guest review byKristianaNew Zealand - 10.0

Hanmer Springs was our second visit, we just came for an overnight stay (on our way to Christchurch), to remind ourselves of how beautiful this place is.
