We have stayed in and around Denia for nearly 30 years and find the town and its surroundings are very pleasant. It is also a good base for a relaxing holiday, combined with trips nearby. For instance, the castle in Denia is very pleasant with a nice cafe at the top - most welcome on a hot day. The antiques market at Xalo in the mountains is well worth a visit on a Saturday morning, but worth getting there early before the parking fills up. The castle at Xativa is also well worth a visit. Shopping in Denia and Ondara is excellent and there are many restaurants to choose from in Denia itself. We found this particularly encouraging, coming from the UK where the catering industry is having a tough time. We are regular visitors to Denia and like the variety of restaurants, easy access to shops and beaches. Recommended areas for restaurants are Marquesa de Campo and Bellavista; also the Marina de Denia. Denia is beautiful and quiet, the pier is fabulous with lovely restaurants and the shopping centre is great you would need to hire a car though. Beaches were lovely and sandy and the people are friendly and helpful, we travelled for a family wedding with my older parents and young children and we all had a fantastic time, we cannot wait to returnGuest review byMichelle - 8.0
It's a much bigger town than we imagined !
It's a much bigger town than we imagined ! On the way into the town there is modern high rise buildings and is very industrial. The quaint, older part is around the marina area and below the castle. Lots of great restaurants and suitable for any budget. People are very friendly and happy to assist tourists. Look out for the street food market near the marina - it's great !! Beautiful colors: the sea, the sky, the flowers, the palm trees, and the trees. Beautiful city. Delicious food. A pleasant temperature in spring, but probably too hot for me in summer.
