Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist
The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Lovely town and oh so many shops and places to spend our money ... lovely. Transport was brilliant hop on hop off so good and timing at every 20 mins brilliant. Chippy opposite the Orme railway station was excellent so clean and fish and chips best for many a year. The main purpose of our visits is to attend church conference. But I have managed to visits two(2) tourist spot the Cowny Castle and The Smallest House in Great Britain. I like the long walk along the promenade in the morning and at night. Food wise i didn't happen to visit any local restaurants. The place that we stayed in, they have a great staff. Nice long Pier with lots of rides for children and amusement arcades. Wide promenade, with plenty of seating. Great Orme has beautiful scenic views from the summit, can be accessed on foot or by Tram or bus. Fantastic selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. I especially liked Pip & Oat in Clonmel Street, and the Mostyn Art Gallery Cafe in Vaughan Street, for their vegan choices, and The Cottage Loaf does a fantastic vegan Sunday roast.
