Absolutely beautiful room and huge bathroom. My husband loved the hot tub. Fabulous views of Dollgellau and Cadir Idris. You had a Continental breakfast in the room which included bread, cereal, waffles and some cake type things. Fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge. Netflix on the television which again was great. The decoration was quirky and so interesting. We would definitely stay here again.

After spending 6 nights in "cosy/quirky" cottages where we didn't have a lot of space - we were delighted as soon as we walked into the Mach Apartment. The Living area was huge - with high ceilings and massive windows overlooking a lovely garden area - with hills visible in the distance. The bathroom was also huge and the bedroom pretty spacious too. As the weather was forecast to be "wet" - we knew we'd be very comfortable if we were unable to get out as much as we'd hoped. Breakfast was already provided for the two days we were there (so we could suit ourselves re timings) - OJ, Milk, Cereal selection, Butter, Jams, Bread, Yoghurts, Croissants, Waffles. A small fridge to keep things cool, microwave, kettle & toaster. The table was also set up with crockery & cutlery. The apartment - and the building itself - were full of quirky artwork/quirky touches which made it quite interesting to look around. No need to take the car to get into Dolgellau village - as you could walk there in about 5-10 minutes. Although worth highlighting that anyone with mobility/fitness issues might prefer to take a car, as it's a downhill walk there/uphill walk back. We didn't use the car - but for those that do, there's a car park right next to the Stag Inn where you can get free parking after 6pm!!! Pubs galore in the village for eating/drinking in the evenings. We opted for The Ship on both nights as we liked their restaurant area (nice, big & open). We arrived late afternoon on our first night having had a busy day. The next day (our only full day in Dolgellau) the weather was better than expected, so we left the car and decided to walk The Mawddach Trail from Dolgellau to Barnmouth. Very picturesque and very flat (about 9.5 miles). We hopped on a bus to get back to Barnmouth (a bargain at £2.20 per person for the 20-25minute trip).

Dolgellau is an old market town which has never been rich ..

Dolgellau is an old market town which has never been rich ... it's location right on the southern edge of the National Park isn't doing much to improve this. BUT the small town centre is a warren of charming old buildings and as new businesses arrive to replace those that have closed or are clearly struggling I genuinely believe this place could become a humming tourist spot. As it stands there are several great places to eat, pubs that oose character and despite trying quite hard I failed to find a bad pint in any of them!

Dolgellau is a nice small town in a beautiful area, ideal for long walking or cycling holidays. The Mawddach Trail to Barmouth is mostly excellent with stunning views, except for one section after leaving Dolgellau where the path was either non-existent or very hard to find. I think the pubs and restaurants were adequate but probably more suitable for a family or couple than a single person.

The town is fabulous - plenty of pubs each with their own food and excellent wine offerings - we tried most and enjoyed every meal. Great walks along safe tracks with magnificent scenery. Lots of shops to purchase some treasures and mementos and cafes serving good coffee and even better cakes!!! We did a ceramics class and had a knitting lesson both classes were fun and we came away with our creations. If you enjoy creating beautiful things I recommend visiting Knit 0ne Natural Fibres and Dipsy Dragon both in the centre of town. A wonderful holiday destination.

Lovely market town but really quiet even on the May bank...

Lovely market town but really quiet even on the May bank holiday that we were there. A nice selection of pubs and restaurants but not much else. Shops didn't have long opening times so by the time you've got up early to explore Snowdonia or climb Cadair Idris and got back down then the shops are shut. The only food supermarket that we could find was the Co-op, which opening times were better but generally an expensive supermarket. The Mawddach Trails leaves from Dolgellau all the way to Barmouth which is a must do cycle trail if you've got good weather, we really enjoyed this and Barmouth. There was a reasonably priced independent Cycle store in Dolgellau which we rented our bikes from for the day. They also do kids bikes, e-bikes and tandems. Dolgellau also served us as a good hub for exploring Snowdonia as we preferred to stay in a Bnb like this than camp. Yr Wyddfa was one hour away in the car.

A nice little town with a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Yr Hen Efail cafe by the main car park was very pleasant and the all day breakfast was really nice. The main highlight of my stay was the last night meal at Y Sospan in the town square. Exceptional service, excellent food and beer, Motown being played in the background and I met a lovely couple from France who were also visiting on their way to Isle of Man.

Everything in the house was well thought out. We were 2 couples staying for 5 days. It was great to have separate bathrooms. The instructions for parking from Ric were clear and very helpful. The pubs were great, the launderette just across the road, the shops were varied and the bakery was absolutely superb! We all highly recommend this lovely house and beautiful area of wonderful Wales. It was our first trip to North Wales and the location was a perfect base for driving out and sight seeing. Also there was an absolutely beautiful little town a few minutes drive away. We found the house so open and spacious for our large family group and wonderful for the two young children who loved the pool table and space the room offered.

Magical location; very peaceful with pods on edge of forest about 150 yds from shower block and communal kitchen and common room. (Drop toilet in forest near to pods).
