Reached out beforehand and was told we would be able to have dinner at the property even though it wasn't included in our booking. When we checked in they told us no restaurant. Me and my wife hadn't eaten much that day up til that point looking forward to the kaiseki, so we had to scramble to find some way to eat. Ended up spending two hours and a ton of walking on our day of relaxation to take a bus to the nearest restaurant as any restaurant in the area was nearing closing. Then had to stressfully rush to the last bus that could take us back towards the onsen. So our day of relaxation turned in to a day of frustration, stress, and more time on our feet. The baths were immaculate, we were only able to enjoy the baths in the morning and they did not have the sauna on which was somewhat disappointing but understandable since it wasn't the main bathing hours. Loved the futons and the tatami mats in the Japanese style room.

I love the traditional feel of this property! Staying in a house with tatami mats was a dream come true for me. The property was well kept and has a lot of character! If you like traditional japanese house 100% recommend this property! It’s about 40 mins from Kyoto but it was worth it! You can also take the scenic train ride from kyoto to the property! Amazing location!

It was a really comfortable room, large bathroom, great attention to detail. It was a nice touch with the welcome cool tea and the sweet treat goodbye. Location was great being close to the train station and the things we wanted to do.

    Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

    I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.

    I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.
