    We really liked the city.

We really liked the city. You need to understand the bus situation and we tried, bought bus passes, tried using them but they were not coded the way our phone was displaying so we ended up using taxi service for all of our visitations to museums, central, restaurants, etc. It wasn't expensive but much more than the simple bus or combi travel would have been. Merida has lots to offer, especially with tours outside of the city, a bus trip to the beach in Progresso for 25 pesos each way, very cheap, cenotes, pyramids, on and on!

Merida is a big, historic, busy city surrounded by Mayan ruins, historic haciendas and beautiful cenotes. The Merida restaurant scene has everything from chef owned culinary gems to family run taco shops. There are many excellent tour guides available for in-depth exploration of the city and surroundings or one can do so on their own using public transportation or with a rental car.

We don’t have enough words to express how great this place is. It is worth to travel to Mexico just to stay in Villa Merida hotel for a truly Mexican experience. The place is a beautiful traditional hacienda, arranged in great style, with all needed amenities. The location is also great (some 20 mins walk from the main center) and in a safe neighbourhood. Host Batiste is very helpful and will do his best to make you feel most welcome. Thanks a lot to Batiste for a fantastic stay and we are looking forward to visit Merida again!

Price is quite good, location is great. The common areas are lovely. There is a water dispenser on every floor so you don't have to worry about buying water (a must in Merida). Noise was good, the minisplit hides any noise. Mosquitoes were minimal (that's a win in Mexico), and there would probably be even less mosquitoes on a higher floor. AC or fan will keep you bite free at night as mosquitoes are bad flyers. The staff are great, especially Mr. Santos.

La Piazzetta Hotel has a very laid-back, homey atmosphere, which appealed to me. The room was clean, the AC quiet and efficient, the bed comfortable, and it was very quiet, compared with other places where I've stayed in Mexico. The hosts were gracious, helpful and informative and were quick to provide a coffee or tea with a treat. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the cathedral and major dining and shopping districts.

This was one of my favorite hostel in my 8 months travels and for sure yet in Mexico. The place is super cosy, small scaled, lots of storage and lockers with keys. There are events everyday. I met some really nice people there and it just felt like home for a few days. The breakfast is ok, fully vegetarian. The volunteers mix up with the guests and create a good vibe. Beds are super comfy.

The best boutique hotel we have ever experienced in Mexico. Clean, quiet, comfortable, stylish. Friendly and helpful host and staff. Tasty breakfast. You get what you paid for and your expectations are met. The only thing I would advise is to equip a place where you can dry a swimsuit, and in the bathroom to provide more hangers. The rest is perfect. Definitely recommended! Thank you!
