First of all, I really appreciated the staff even before I got there because they had helped me get transportation to the hotel. When I got there, they upgraded my room and the room was ready for me even though I got to the hotel at 10:30 in the morning. That is a rarity when you are traveling internationally.
I found the location perfect because it was located in a quiet part of the main road but it was only like a 10 minute walk to where the majority of the restaurants and bars are located. It was also never more than 25 minutes from any of the tourist locations.
The rooms were beautiful, and there is a nice restaurant and bar located in the lobby. My room was always cleaned, and I never had to ask for anything other than ice which I was able to get that regularly from the bar.

Very casual atmosphere; we spent each day hiking and adventuring. We loved that there was no dress code, no make up and forget doing your hot-the wind will take care of that. Seek out small hidden gems; we found an outdoor 2nd floor terrace in a sunny day and it was wonderful. Everything is walkable so take advantage and don’t be afraid to get lost; you may find something interesting.

We just stayed one night.
We just stayed one night. We filled the day with a tour of the church and also a visit to Perlan Museum. So glad we went. In fact, I would recommend going there first before setting out to explore Iceland. It would help you to understand what you were seeing.

Coming from a well-populated part of England, you almost feel like you're on the edge of the world in Reykjavik due to its isolation and extreme landscape. It's cold and grey, even in April. Car-centric design of the city just adds to its bleakness when you decide to walk everywhere, like we did.
I think it's worth coming to Reykjavik for a day, see the church and walk through the pedestrianised high street and maybe go to the harbour if you booked a whale watching tour or visit the Sky Lagoon.
However, if you decide to give it a miss I think you won't be missing much. The city feels like late-stage capitalism: bleak and expensive.

In Eve Online my name is Kshal Aideron and if you're a space nerd, Reykjavik during Eve Fanfest is a must do. The entire city is full of Eve players celebrating the game and the friendship machine!
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Reykjavik is a pretty cool place to visit. There's culture, lots to see and tons of great food to eat. Just make sure to save, it's not cheap!

There is an enormous variety of activities to do in and around Reykjavik from the museums to flights over lava fields and whale spotting. I recommend the Posthuis for a selection of restaurants in a food hall type setting, and Lemmy's for many many craft beers.

Positive: After 9 or 10 visits, Reykjavík still offers something new every time. The city is full of interesting sights and experiences, and it continues to evolve.
Negative: The overall cost of traveling has noticeably increased over the years. From food and drinks to fuel and dining out, Iceland remains one of the more expensive destinations.

I had the pleasure of staying at 101 hotel in downtown Reykjavik that is member of the Design Hotels. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel's location in the heart of Reykjavik was perfect for exploring the city. We found the hotel to be impeccably clean and the lounge area incredibly comfortable. Overall, we felt we received great value for our money. The design of the hotel is both stunning and timeless. Highly recommended!
It's a great starting point for your stay in Reykjavik/Iceland, being a nice mix of hotel and hostel. You can potentially meet other traveller here, but also have space to yourself that you don't have to share. There are several bus stops and highlights of the city in walking distance. The kitchen is very neat if you want to warm up some supermarket food, check in/out ist super easy, there is a hot tub, you can easily store your luggage, it's stylish and kind of fun to stay in a hub ... great place for a couple of nights.
The room was clean, the beds were quite comfortable and the building is well located, walking distance from downtown. Supermarkets and restaurants very close. And it was the cheapest room I could find near the city center.
